A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
Really sorry you experienced such a terrible loss, I just can't imagine this situation, how ever now going out in that area for any beagler should be wary of that pack for it now knows a beagle in full cry is dinner bell.
I think if I was hunting up there I would be loaded for bear.
Just a terrible situation and I agree they should have never re introduced them where they killed them off, our forfathers definately knew what they were doing where those things were concerned.
From Field to Show and Show to Field the way it should be
the first time i ever heard wolves howl was on a bear hunt in canada this fall. was still hunting through some thick timber when a pack openend up not 100 yds from me. most erie sound i've ever heard. i could only see 40 yds through the thicket.i didnt stay long to find out how many were there either. a friend in our group killed one near the end of the week. i know one thing for sure. you get an uneasy feeling standing on the ground in the dark up there. no telling what might want to make you dinner. real sorry for the loss on your hound. i would be hunting them legal or not if that happenend to me. get yourself some meat scraps and put a stand. you can hunt "coyotes" right?
Fever....where about were you? Sorry about your dog, thats always in the back of your mind when your up there. Between them & yotes the hounds don't stand a chance. Sorry........ Jason
Don't worry about what people think....most don't do it often!!!
Rabbit Fever, I have a very good friend on the wisconsin bear hunters association board. They have had many problems like this. I just got off the phone with him, here is the info you need. Go to yahoo.com , then type in wbha.info, go down to #4 where it says wolf kill 1, click on that and scoll down to the last paragraph, (right above the map) there you will see a 800 number to call. You need to do this asap, also if you can get back out there and take pictures of the blood and the wolf tracks. If they give you any grief, p.m. me and I will give you my friends number and he will help you out. They should compensate you for your loss(however as we all know not enough) due to depredation. Good luck,
Sorry to hear about your loss . If you have any gamecock
fighters in your area they can tell you how to get rid of a
few wolves & coyotes to boot . That picture was really
upsetting . I wish you better luck in the future .
Sorry Swampman, haven't been on the computer lately. But i have contacted all of the people and agencies i needed to to get the ball rolling. Thanks for all of your concerns. Our local TV station 12 out of Rhinelander WI came out yesterday to interview me for about 1 hr. They wanted to know the whole story. They are airing this interview either tonight at 10 pm or tomorrow night at 5:00 or 10:00 pm. Im not sure. Hopefully they will take all the info i gave them and really do good with it. There way out of control up here. (Thats the Wolf)
