Branko Bloodlines

Post by Hare Hawk »

I like to hear all of your opinions on the Branko bloodlines. I live in North Central Wisconsin and am considering purchasing a pup from Branko in the spring of 2008 when I get back from a military deployment. This dog will be running both hare and cottontail. I've done a fair amount of research on Brankos dogs but I'd like to hear it from the people that are running these dogs. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Thanks in advance.

Mine is one year old Feb 24, bought him from Frieda Krpan. I am very pleased. He's out of FC Branko's Baba Cowboy (Ali-baba) and Branko's Little Cleo, full black blanket brown headed tri with ticking both black and brown on 4 legs, square faced. He runs very clean, he's med-fast, sharp chop mouth, and great kennel manners. .
The Krpans are exceptional to deal with .

i dont understand why so many people are so hell bent on buying a pup straight from branko,by the time you pay for it and add in shipping, gas to the airport ect you have a small fortune in it.i have a pup that is out of two dogs directly out of one tough ombre,i got him from ed kittle, aka johny ringo,he is the same thing they are selling for 400-500 a crack plus shipping ect.do what you want but there are people just like ed on here that have the same blood they are selling up north but a lot less.

Yep you are right Danny, but at the time I was looking for a quality hound as a mate for my bitch and they were going to be housedogs not trial dogs. Hell I didn't even know this board existed at the time.

I'm really not that hell bent on buying directly from Branko I'm just curious if people are happy with the blood that originated from this kennel. If I could find a kennel that was having a litter early next spring up North I would be very interested in checking it out. One nice thing about brankos kennel is that they have several litters in the spring and I have a better chance of getting a female and not taking the last pup that know one wanted. As far as shipping goes I have a unigue situation since my wife works for an airline the shipping will cost me nothing.

Not to mention another another hundred to convet to AKC registration. AKC requires them to be DNA profiled plus a certified three generation pedigree (which coming from CKC ain't cheap).
But, I have no regrets and would buy again from Frieda Krpan. Very lovely lady who is very respectful and just a joy to deal with. The reason I bought direct from Branko's Kennel is because of the thought that goes behind their breeding program. A lot of guys on here advertise Branko dogs for sale but unless Branko or Freida bred them they ain't Branko dogs. When I bought my two dogs from Frieda I let her know my intentions on line breeding and told I wanted a male and female and trusted her kennel knowledge to choose two that would be winners and good for breeding. She did well and I am fully satisfied. If I were on a limited budget and wanted a Branko dog without the Branko name then buying from someone like myself would be an alternative. Either way is fine. I will probably buy another from Frieda again someday. For now I am working on my Blueback/Branko infusion.

Ringo, I don,t understand i have never had to have a hound that i got from Branko DNA Profiled, and if you have the AKC # on the Parents i never had to have a three Gen. Pedigree from CKC for AKC and i have had several hounds from them. http://www.latimerbeagles.com

Latimer i was wondering how long did it take for the CKC to switch the dog over to AKC because my pups Sire was from Branko and the owner wanted to switch him to AKC but its been a year so i havent gotten the chance to register him with AKC

Takes about the same time as any regular registration once sent in to AKC, couple of weeks about.

3 generation Cert Pedigree isn't needed if both sire and dam are also AKC reg.
