Popshot -

Its a slow day so I'll throw in my $0.02. First of all its not fair to make a general statement about KY's beagles and beaglers. Second, if you didn't do your homework on a hound and watch it run then you share in the blame.

That being said, I've personally heard quite a few people talk about getting a bad deal when buying hounds from KY. I personally, have gotten a bad deal there from a dishonest man....expensive lesson learned.

One of the reason for this I believe is b/c KY does produce a lot of good hounds and does have a lot of good breeders, that poor breeders and cheats get more respect than they deserve.

Popshot,
I've got one dog from Rufus Stewart and two dogs from Jeff Brown in the past and all three dogs were better than what these two men described to me. Seems to me that this state produces some very good beagles, maybe you are dealing with the wrong crowd! dboman

Every running dog I currently own is from Kentucky. I bought them from people I know or met on this board. They make me happy enough to feed and clean their #@%! every day. Guess I got lucky or don't know the difference. ooh aah ooh aah ooh aah !

Popshot,

I live in Southeastern Kentucky, I have seen dogs smoke a rabbit in here in the mountains. Top notch dogs. These same dogs can be taken to the flatlands of, say, Western Kentucky, less than 300 miles, and not be able to run their own shadow. Different running conditions seem to have an affect on how the dog will run. Hounds are like people. They have different styles and do better under certain conditions. Maybe you aren't the style that the dogs need. Take this advice, NEVER BUY A DOG THAT IS SMARTER THAN YOU ARE. It seems that the dogs were smart enough to be their previous owners "#1". How long have you had these dogs? Have you tried to bond with them? A dog will do a lot for someone that he feels he can trust. Get to know your dogs.

In the future, I suggest that you see the dog run and then take on a trial period before finalizing the deal. I think you may be a little happier. You can always breed your own hounds to better suit the format you like.

Believe it or not there are still a few people that can be taken at their word. I plan on remaining one of them.

Get your head out of your fourth point of contact!!!! If you don't understand this statement. 1= feet, 2= knees, 3= elbows, and 4= your a_ _. Are you going to buy a car of truck that you haven't taken for a test drive?

Dude, just think before you buy and before you go spouting off. I live here in Kentucky and unlike TC, I take offense at you post.

But still, I wish you better luck in the future.

Anthony,
Don't kidd yourself, you have wised up just like me, everyone knows that KY has some of the best dogs around today, just look at some of the big hunts and you will see that a lot of power comes from that state. I wish we had the number of good/great dogs come from OK as they do.

Chris, seems like you are beating around the bush a little too much and Popshot may not understand you are upset!! LOL.

Guys, see you later, headed north to the KS pits for a rabbit running day, it's going to be hard to do but I'll some how get thru it today!! dboman

I also take offense to your uneducated statement. NEVER buy anything without starting it up and taking for a test flight. Your fourth point of contact is like an opinion everyone has one but you decided to talk out of yours instead of using it as a seat.

There you go now, you even got the boys from MO all fired up...

I would have to say that the dogs I got from KY are pretty good rabbit dogs. I have no complaints about what I have and I run them as often as I can. You can look at my website and see them if you want.
