Tritronics G2 Battery life

Post by HarleyPA »

I've been using my G2 for awhile now, and I've noticed this two or three times now. I'll be running, when I start out the battery indicates that it is good green light, a few hours later the collar will be shut off. I haven't used it in the meantime. I thought the collars were supposed to turn yellow first, before Red.

What gives?
I don't use it, hardly at all.

How long does a charge last you?

I don't charge them after ever use. Mostly because I feel like if I've had it on for three hours and haven't used it, I shouldn't have to charge it.

What do I have to do? Call the dog every ten minutes to see if the battery is good? Or should I just charge em all the time?

Thanks

Leave them on the chargers. Mine last a LOOOOOOONG time. Once it is flashing red, you cannot shock the dog, don't think you can beep it either.

Something is wrong w/ mine then! By a long time, I meant mine will last 4-5 days if left turned on all the time and used sparringly.

these guys are right the g2s batterys are made to leave on charge when not in use,and i have had the same kind of battery life as Steve when not charged for 3 or 4 days, are your batteries going dead or is the collar getting turned off by the dog? don't laugh at me it has happenend to me twice.if i run with a regular collar in front of the receiver collar and a dog pushes hard thru the thick stuff the collar in front can push back against the small button in side of the collar and turn it off,and would someone tell me why tri tronics designed this collar so you have to hold the button down till it beeps twice before it turns on and you can just touch it ,it beeps once and turns off ,seems backward to me. just make sure your regular collar is on the opposite side of the receiver collar switch, usually in back of the collar or better yet only run the receiver collar and put your name tag on it,any body else had this problem or am i just unusually unlucky?they are great collars and this is the only fault i have with them ,i can usually find something i don't like about just about any thing if i look hard enough, but maybe that's why i live by myself,ya think  :!:

No, your not that lucky.

I've had that happen too. But lately, when I go to turn it on again, thinking the dog somehow turned it off, it doesn't want to come on again. Take it home and put it on the charger, and it comes to life again.

My objection was that it went from green to red so fast.

Theres no way I'm getting a week of running 4,5, or 6 hours a day. And trust me, I don't really use it at all. Its just there for insurance.

i have a 3 dog classic 70 g2,and as stated the batteries last a very long time. i hunt every weekend, holidays and take days off work to hunt and any other time i get the chance during the season, and only have to charge them 2-3 times the entire season.and then their not blinking yellow or red,i just figure they have to be getting close to needing charged.

i think i would send them back, they have very good customer service.

You wern't senile. I think it was probably just debris or sticks. I do use another collar on the dog, behind the E-collar. Don't know if the helps or hurts the situation.

Maybe I have a bad battery?

I have a two dog unit, and I only really use the one collar. I have used the other maybe four times. I think I'm gonna try the other and see how long it lasts.

My beepers on both collars stopped working shortly after I go them. I should have sent them in to be fixed, but I didn't want to go without them.

For you guys that have good battery life, does the light turn yellow? How long does that last?

Thanks.

yea Harley i have seen a yellow light on one of my collars, but i really don't know how long it lasted before it turned red. if the beeper doesn't work you really should tritronics ,there is a customer service 800 number in the book you got with the collars and they are really good about backing their equipment.

Don't remember if there's a yellow light or not. I'm sure it says in the manual though. I know when it's green, it's "working fine" but when red, it will NOT shock.

Thanks for the help.

Without asking someone else who has the same device, its hard to know when something is wrong sometimes.

I just hate giving it up for any length of time. I'm getting a new pup here next week too. Oh well. I let you know what they say.
