Flea and tick control

Looking for an economical means to control fleas and ticks. I have found several ticks on my dogs since the warm up. I had someone tell me about a dip they used for their dogs but not sure what it was. Figure some of you guys and gals could point me to the most effective and least expensive option. Thanks in advance!

economical means = 7 dust..is it an outside dog?

I agree with mjd... pulled about 5 ticks off my male the other day. got some frontline and have not seen a tick since. I was told you can buy the large dog pack and split is in half and use it on two dogs. Cheaper that way.

The problem with frontline, it is not ecomical.
I have used it for several years and end up spending $100 a month for flea/tick control.

Seven dust is about $10 a bag that will last all summer, though it is not as effective.

Thanks guys.....next time I talk to the guy who told me about the dip I will let you know what it is. He said it was very effective and he has around 20 dogs so I know it must be fairly inexpensive.

Paramite is one type of dip for dogs.
It is not expensive.
I have used it on dogs with mange caused by mites and on dogs ears with ear mites.
Some will use it for flea and tick dip.

I mix it up in a one liter bottle and sponge it on the dog wearing rubber gloves.

For fleas, Bayer Tree and Shrub - one cc between the shoulder blades once a month. I have not seen a flea on my dogs since I have been doing this. Combine this with a LIGHT dusting of 10% Sevin every three weeks during tick season and you should be good to go for PENNIES per dog.

I use the Bayer T&S also, $14 at Wally World. Also use Sevin 10% and Frontline Plus, not at the same time of course...

Yep... but it is not as concentrated so you need to use more. I put about 3 cc's down the back. Didn't know Wally World had it (well duh, they have everything else in creation) so I paid $20 at Lowe's.

front line is approved for dogs. 7 is approved for dogs .I dont know about something for your shrubs. does it say anything about your pet on the bottle. Why are you guys using 10%? I have never needed more than 5%..

I used a dip on my male dog when he was about4 months old. I cant remember exactly what happened but I took him to the vet. I think his ears started to rot. not really but they were bad and i think his skin dried real bad to. never used it again. It was something from happy jack..

I use 10% b/c that's what I use in and around the kennels, so I'll put a little on the dogs too.

As for the Bayer T&S, I only use 1-1.5cc right on their back above the shoulder blade just like Frontline. I've heard people use 3-4 cc w/ no problems, but I've never needed more than 1.5. I've also heard people run it all the way up the dogs back.
