Seneca dog house

Post by deerhost »

I'm thinking about buying a seneca dog box for the end of my above ground run and would like some opinions on how warm it keeps the dogs during the winter time. I live in Newyork and it gets pretty cold here in the winter. The walls do have 3/4" foam in them but that sounds kind of thin.....Would like some feed back...Thanks in advance

dog houses

I bought 2 a couple of months ago. This winter I plan on putting spring hinge doors on and maybe plywood inserts on the inside to create a coridor that opens in back to a sleeping area. I figure if I use 1/2 to 3/4 inch plywood and then use cedar bedding it should be really well insulated. I bought them to have long lasting dog houses I could easily clean out. What I'm doing may be over-kill. I would also like to hear what others have to say. I'm in Michigan.

I have two of the Seneca above ground kennels with the boxes attached. They have been great the last two winters in Maine. When I ordered them I had the heat lights added and put straw in when the temps drop below 40 degrees. The beagles were toasty all last winter even with all the below zero temps we had at night.

Their standard dog box for a beagle will house 2-3 dogs comfortably. At least what I have on my 3 dog unit will...

Yep, kennel a couple together in the cold months and they'll keep warm.

Ron will also add to the length of the run for 30 bux a foot. Actually, he'll cusomize most of his products however you want them. I recomend the vapor light set up too for the more northern part of the country. Nice set ups ! CHH
