an old man told me onetime papers are very important. you never know when you might need something to wipe on. lol. sam lebeau
LMAO!

Here's a picture of a Blueback daughter I took in 2000 at Beaver Dam. I'm wanting to say her name was Annie, but I can't be sure. She didn't look lacking on foot when the pack went by, and it was either her or the Whitey bitch that won the cast - I blame old age for not remembering the finer details.

CPC, help me out here. Who was the handsome feller that owned Whitey?

Hey Bev. I know you and you can't claim old age for at least 10 years if not more. I think you're in denial and won't admit to having a bad case of CRS!!!.

bev,
terry bradley is the guy who owned ole "mars hill whitey". spicers cindy or candy was the other bitch in that cast. i am pretty sure it was candy. whitey was one of the most powerful bitches i have ever seen and candy was never too far behind her.

i too have heard the rumors on blueback. i have seen two consistant traits out of direct offspring of blueback. 1. i have seen them, when they don't wanna run, watch a rabbit run by and not take part in a chase. 2. i have seen them when they do wanna run absolutely take over a race and beat everything else in the country. seem to be moody dogs that have the talent when they wanna use it.

Hey Gabe, you just reminded me of a story that Bert Spicer told me at his house one day...we were discussing Blueback and he said this...

"Tony, there was a time and I ain't making this up, that if you had been here you wouldn't have given a nickel for old Blueback. I used to keep some San Juan rabbits around here to let the younger dogs mess with them from time to time and I looked out back one evening at the house that I had Blueback tied out to. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself, but there was a water pan sitting out from the house a little bit, and on one side sat Blueback taking a drink, on the other side sat a fat San Juan taking a drink too."

Bert said he thought the only reason Blueback allowed that rabbit to drink out of the same pan was that he (Blueback) knew he couldn't get to run that rabbit cuz he was tied up. Or, maybe he just felt like a little company that evening....Either way, you could tell just talking to Bert that he really missed that hound. Said he gave him a single hot dog every evening without fail.

Tony

Tony,
That definitely sounds like a Bert Spicer story if I ever heard one! lol...I live up the road about 4 miles from Bert and I work with Scottie. They're good guys for sure.

I never got to see Blueback run, but have saw a few off him run. I wished people would let the ol dog rest in peace.

Thanks Gabe. I'm ashamed that I even forgot Terry's name. He was one helluva judge, too. Could run like a deer and tried to get all the score he could on the dogs.

Candy - I believe you're right. And you were such a young little fart when all that was going on, but when you turned 16 and got your judge's license, everyone was glad to have you on their cast. They knew you knew a good dog.

Danny vansickle, I was not referring to your dog, I was talking about the pup that the original post was on. I saw the mother of these pups run, and she was a good dog, but lacked foot, and I know of another pup out of the same litter, same deal, good rabbit dog, just not fast enogh for most people on this board. So come on over and try some of this poison Danny.

I heard the exact story to a tee.I have judged blueback several times , still got the pic when wayne waits won opens with waits amy i won champs with cody sharps jackson and ol jug headed scottie won grands with blueback at indiana state all 3 of us smiling like we just ate sawbriars.
Call a tater a tater, gabe is right for a change. All the offspring seemed sorta sometimey to me . Blueback could run with the best of em. i judged him once , when he won by 6 checks against pretty stiff dogs. Most people didnt want much of him especially at the end of rabbit season. And ur right scotty and burt still grieve over that ol dog. So lets let him rip
