HILLS HARDROCKEN WENDY

Post by hubertsoutlaw »

Look this post might sound a little corny, but I am so serious. Wendy had like one win, 11 seconds and many other places. Do to a coyote attack, she lost he front leg. Use of it anyway. Another hound very, very close to field champion but died to tick bite why trainning. Park hills Luke had two wins, alot of seconds thirds, and fourths. I think AKC should recognize these hounds as field champions for the sake , if they were healthy thet would have made it. In lukes case because, it is bad because he died. Wendys case though, would be a situation where the hound was deserving of field champion status. Luke and Wendy were fabulous hounds and was sure to make it. I am sure there were cases in the past a excellent was hurt very badly or even killed that should have been recognized as field champion for not only the hounds hard work but the handlers as well. Maybe this will be a laughing matter. I just think what ever format a great dog is in, and a unfortunate event occurs the dog should recieve the highest honor possible. They had over the points but not the wins. We all know the wins would have come though . JEREMY

i disagree, luke needed 1 win and she needs 2. the real thing this brings to light, is checking the hounds very good after running.

checking dogs thoroughy after running is a must. that being said, a coyote attack that destroyed a leg, i am sure would be noticed. also a dog can get bitten by a tick in the kennel and never seen. this is not the question here. great hunting dogs or trial dogs get remembered by those who have seen them, whether they have field champion status or not. owners breed to these dogs also,if their goal is to improve the breed and are so concerned about FC on a pedigree. there are alot of field champions that are not the total package and i personally would not breed to. to answer original question..NO..they should not be recognized as field champions. Jim Kelly took the buffalo bills to 4 super bowls, lost each one. should he be considered a winner? in a horse race only the winner gets the blanket, even though the horse that placed second went the best mile. any sport, seconds are not wins. In my opinion there is already too much emphasis put on titles. I sure don't think they should start handing them out to hounds that could've been....

I can agree with what you say. Jim Kelly and Dan the man Marino will go down in history still as two of the best. No super Bowl, but still the recognition.

Bill YOU are a jerk! Everytime someone comes on this board with something, you have something negative to say. You have no idea how good Josh Patterson and his dad Rick treat their dogs. I would venture to say that they take of them as good as anyone anywhere. It's pretty rude of you to assume that because they didn't check their dog for a tick that they are the cause of Luke being dead.
Jeremy,
As good as those dogs were, they still didn't earn the wins to get the title. I know it stinks, but those requirements have been in place a long time and they are there for a reason. I know as well as you, that both of those dogs would have finished, but sometimes bad luck just doesn't allow it. JMHO

pete dont ask a ??? then not like the answer. i have missed ticks my self, and acording to my vet the longer the tick is left on the worse it is. it does suck about luke, i have a real nice year old out of him i like alot.

are u still upset about what i think of trail setter. get over it. because nothing i said in my first post cut josh or rick down, simple saying ticks are becoming more of a promblem.

Bill, obviously I struck a nerve in you. I couldn't care less about what you think about "Pacesetter".
Don't back up on what you said. You OBVIOUSLY meant that they were at fault for not checking their dogs thoroughly. You always have something negative to say. It's just your nature, but don't speak when you don't have any idea what you are talking about. I don't know you from Adam, but I can tell you are a jerk by the way you respond to people on this board. This post was meant to be a compliment to a couple of good dogs that never got their due. It wasn't meant to place blame on why the dogs never finished.

I suspect the list of "ALMOST" is longer then the list of FCs. Awful Bawling Gabe had 6 wins in Canada and only 2 in the US before dieing of Blasto. At least Wendy still has an opportunity to pass her genes on. If Brandon ever get a little gyp out of Wendy, I'll take it with or without the FC title. Besides, Wendy would still be competitive in the UBGF! Cowbay Striker didn't get his third win until almost 10, he had to do it in GDB, but he still did it. The only thing I'd change is awarding points for NBQ, otherwise get rid of it and save the expense of the ribbon.

I believe Wendy had 2 wins, and I'm very thankful to got the runt male out of her latest litter.Shame yote hurt her saw run at Java definite worthy of a FC title.Saw a post on ticks worst year in a long time for them JOSH is one the nicest young beaglers I have ever met,and I'm sure he takes good care of his hounds. The little seed ticks are about the size of a pinhead-awful this year.About 20 years ago I caught Ricky Mtn Spotted Fever -got very sick no fun.I notice Front Line doesn't work as good as it use to.
