I work 2nd shift right now. Im too sorry to get up early enuff to run, so I run whenI get home. I run from 1am til 5 or 6 am 3 or 4 nights a week.
I cant wait to get back on 3rd shift and run inthe mornings. It is really hard to know your dogs with all night running. I love staying on top of mine during the day.
I hadnt run much in June, and my Wife said she was getting rid of me if I didnt go run dogs or do something. She is a good cook so I started running hard again.

I just hate seeing some of the younger dogs that you know have potiental not get to develop as good do to lack or running time. it sucks be we do what we can i guess.

I work 170 miles away during the week, night shift, and stay gone from my family for 3-4 days, so i usually only get to run some Sat. afternoons after a short nap, most Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays while the kids are at school. I'll be glad when my 14 year old can drive by herself so she can drop them off and i can get out at daylight. Honestly though, the money's good, but i would give anything to spend more time with family and hounds. maybe in a year or two when i get a couple of vehicles paid off, i can work closer to home. I found a solution though, RUN AT NIGHT! LOL

I would run at nite but they yotes have me to scared to go and risk loosing a dog. if it wasn't for the yotes id probably run 3 or 4 nites a week i keep here run bells or lights on them but i still don't feel comfortable doing it after getting run out of the woods a couple years ago by them.

How's this. I'm 47 yr old, carrying a full load as a college junior incl. 3 math classes (Number Theory, Calculus 2, Statistics). Wife works in the ICU as a nurse 4-5 nights a week (12-13 hr), mostly on weekends wehn I can be with the young'uns (2, a kindergartener and a 4th grader). 4th grader is on the academic team, plays basketball and baseball. I do most of the cooking, laundry, and light house- and yardwork (4th grader now has own weedeater). Teach Bible class once a week, preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ at least once a week. I just finished a calculus problem that took 1 hour and 40 minutes to figure out, 3 more to go. Other than that, in my spare time.................Oh yeah, took the hounds out Monday evening, first time since July. BUT---When I finish school and become a teacher, I get snow days, holidays, and summers off. If you don't like your life, sacrifice some for a short time and change it! Life is too short to spend it in misery! BTW, I get a month+ off from classes, Dec. 7th thru mid-Jan. I will make up for lost time then, besides, I have a Buzzsaw hound that is typically low-maintenance.
Wow DRamey, that's pretty profound
I make my own schedule, I'm a real estate broker on a small tiny Island. We have yotes, no off game though (no deer, bear, moose, etc).
I work when I want to but sometimes there's no work at all.... so I have spare time to run hounds and other people's hounds. If I know I'm going I just make all my appointments around them. Life's too short. We all have to survive but maybe we can survive on less and have more time to do the things in life we enjoy so very much.
So true !If you don't like your life, sacrifice some for a short time and change it! Life is too short to spend it in misery!

Re:
I was in a "walking coma" in my old job. I was a grocery store manager and all I did was work and answer the phone at home. I changed it all back in december ... or I would not have a wife ect...
I now sell cars... good thing is all and all i average 45 hours a week and every other week I am home around 5 pm ... so I get my running in now. Bad side is ... I work just about every saturday and miss most of the trials.. that is why we have some on sunday here!!!
Best move I ever made... but I did give up steady pay for commish only... takes alot of cofidence in yourself and alot of patience from your wife when things are slow or you are in a rut not selling cars.
I got a good wife. she is not the beagle running type for the most part but she likes the dogs and ask about how the hunt was ect ( even though she has no idea what she is asking about and my brother and buddies get a kick out of trying to explain it ) I guess I am as lucky as any man can be.. I have good friends and family.... a decent job with good people.. and a few ol culls to run a rabbit !!

Retirement is great. Don't be sad, just look ahead to the day all you have to bitch about is,"its too dry". The only thing that takes my time is "Buttcrack" my grandson and to be trueful I enjoy that mean sucker. He loves the hounds and will feed them until the mess they make takes twice as long to clean up. So just hang tuff and look at what your retirement will be ,even if you are union. They are crooks too. But it is nice to just play a lot, take a nap when you want.
