How long do you guys stay out hunting on average in one days hunt. We tend to stay out for roughly 5 hours. If we are having a good day we stay out even longer. Especially when theirs an overcast. I could stay out there all day long.

When I hunted in NC a typical day was 8:30 am until about 4 pm. When we hunt in Iowa we normally quit around 3 or 4 but we will start at 730 or 8am. On my trip to Alabama to hunt canecutters the running was good enough and the barrels were smoking so we hunted until dark.

We usually arrive to our hunting location just as the sun starts to peek out. When it's time to go you just know it. Basically if we have covered every possible area that we believe holds rabbits and if we and the dogs are tired we just head on home. I like the days when we are like Hey lets try over there and hey we still didn't hit that part of the huge field. Those hunts that never end.

Try for all day. Depends on how much running the dogs did in the morning. If they been hammering rabbits all morning 4-5-hrs. we'll either use fresh dogs or just pack it up and go home.

I have to drive a bit to get to hunting ground so I usually go for the whole day with a long lunch break.

Yep that's very true. I tried to horse whip my dogs once. I wanted to force them to hunt for 5 days straight for about 5-6 hours a day. By the fifth day when I went out to get them at 5 in the morning none of them wanted to come out of their kennels. I forced them anyway. The hunt wasn't all that great. They were tired.

It all depends on the situation. I would say on average, about 4 hours, but if I am hunting with Swing, it is an all day excursion. 4 1/2 hours to get there and we start about 8-8:30 and hunt till dark, then 4 1/2 hours to get home... Now that I live a little closer, it will probably will take 3 1/2 - 4 hours to get there.......

If I have the time, I hunt 7 to 8 hours a day.
* I enjoy meeting new Beaglers & Squirrel Dog Owners. It's a blessing to find other's with such unique interests.
* I also enjoy helping future hunters.

Usually a good morning hunt, 4-5 hours. Unfortunately, i'm not as young and in shape as I used to be, and I have a alot more family time than I used to.. ( don't keep my hounds in top shape, like I should, either.. )....but we do a few all day hunts by the middle/end of gun season..

I hunt a lot of fencerows around fields and ditchbanks a lot of the time, so i'll usually take off and walk as far as i can, go back to the truck for lunch. Unless i'm hunting with a buddy, we usually leave one truck about halfway so we can pick up and move to another place if we want. Some days i may hunt 2 or 3 different places so i shoot for all day, it all depends.
