anti-bark collars

Here's the deal. I've got a young male that kennel barks. He's smart enough to see's me in the backyard to turn the hose on, he shuts up. At 3:00 a.m. this morning he was barking so hard I thought he was running something, but as soon as I come out the back door he shut up, and I reinforced this with a broom! Going to buy a no-bark collar but I'm worried about the effect it will have when running him with a shock collar on. Remember he's young(1 1/2 yrs.) and though handling is not a problem, He hasn't been in a trash running situation yet, so I'm still running him with a shock collar. Any input?

bark collars suck they burn holes in the dogs neck and if the dog dosent take the juce good it might yelp than it will be zaped again and again i would put the shocker on it and every time he barks yell shutup if it continues zap him hard on like 6 or 10 do this a few timed and you will break him if he is collar smart just buy a dummy collar i found this to work the best

I have use the no bark collar. i have had no problems with them. They still bark in the field. Just keep an eye on your dog. The Tri-tronic one can tell you how many times it shocked. plus it have 5 levels.

I have had good luck also not perfect but im happy with results. Yes they still bark in the field. I just moved to new house thought i would start out right with close neighbors. Im also down to 3 dogs so that helps.

I got one of those collar smart also. If the anti-bark works then I need to get one.

they worked great on all of my 6 dogs but one he kept screaming n kept screaming i felt sorry for the dumbazz n just took it off now he just barks at feed time or when im loading dogs sometimes he gets to go just to shut him up jb

I was afraid of putting one on my hounds - afraid they'd panic and keep barking - and- afraid they'd not bark in the field. I finally bought a cheap one at WalMart and gave it a try. Worked like a charm so I bought one for each of my 2 hounds. They have been reliable and generally kept the yaps shut. The only problems are that they will still bark through the shock if really excited, they've learned to chew the collars off for each other and they eventually go back to barking after I take the collars off. When they start barking again, I just put em back on for 2 or 3 days. I recommend get one and try it. When I put the first one on a hound, they both clammed up. Had no problem in the field.

I have had good luck with the no bark collars. I think if a dog is started pretty well, once they smell that rabbit, they will completely forget having the collar on. I have never had a problem with a dog not wanting to bark on track. I had a problem with them chewing the cheap collars off too so I just took a nail, heated it up and punched holes in their nylon collars and mounted the collar to their normal collar. It works fine.

I would take it off when he eats. I had one by Tritronics that would go off when the dog chewed hard.

I live directly in the middle of town, neighbors on every side of me, both neighbors directly behind me have large dogs chained in their yards that bark constantly- I have four beagles that range in age from 18 months to 9 years and I do not have a hound that is at all noisy in the kennel, they will make some racket when I feed and have cut loose if a stray cat or dog comes through the yard but they know that barking like you describe is a no no and the reason they know this is from me enforcing it by hand, without the help of tri-tronics or other e-collars. It does not take but a few trips out to the kennel when they are young and we have an understanding! If the problem persists chances are the hound in question needs to and usually ends up living somewhere else. Someone in the post responded saying that a dog can burn holes in their neck while wearing a bark collar- if a hound does that, what do you think that hound has for brains? I say none. Kurt Robinson

You won't have a problem w/ the bark collar causing him not to bark when running.

The only reason for burning holes in there neck is leaveing them on 24-7 ya got to take it off a little.
