on the clock or not??????????

Re: on the clock or not??????????
If your dog gave out 3 chirps and another dog let out 3 barks while going to check
him out what would be the call on that one ?

Re: on the clock or not??????????
i would have to put him on the clock to many situations like what jude just said is left for great troubles and arguments if u let him by with that what are u goin to overlook next time?? the list would grow and grow till everybody gets away with everything!
Re: on the clock or not??????????
The rules say 3 consecutive barks ........ I don't recall ever seeing the definition of a bark
It don't matter how you call it your going to pizz someone off . If you put the dog on the clock the handler is mad . If you let it slide someone in the cast is going to be mad . How about this scenario....... Danny is at the world hunt his hound has advanced to the 3rd round the dog gives 3 or 4 chirps the judge says nothing . After the cast is over his dog is ahead by 5 points 2 people do not sign the score card and protest the cast because the judge did not put the dog on the clock . RULE VIOLATION re-run the cast .

Re: on the clock or not??????????
If i were there, and judging, i would put him on the clock, because the rules state, AFTER A HOUND HAS OPENED( 3 OR MORE BARKS) AND THE JUDGE STRIKES THE HOUND, THE JUDGE SHALL GIVE THE HOUND A MAXIMUM OF 3 MINUTES TO PRODUCE THE RABBIT BEFORE HE/SHE CALLS THE TRACK DEAD AND ASKS THE HANDLERS TO MOVE THEIR HOUNDS TO ANOTHER AREA. IN THIS CASE TE HOUND THAT WAS STUCK RECIEVES A MINUS 10 POINTS.(NKC LP JUDGES HANDBOOK pg.18) So i guess the hound would be struck in. I may misunderstand the way the book means it to be, but the way i read it after 3 barks the hound is struck in.
Re: on the clock or not??????????
I have put dogs on the clock for opening off the lead.
They fully opened.
A yip or a whine is not fully open.

Danny-
I would look at it this way. If you had Jessie in the finals at the WORLD this year, and Jessie was on the ground with a dog that "chirps" when cut loose or hunting, and it caused ol Jessie to bark into him and Jessie pulled three minuses in the finals when the other dog actually gave mouth 3+ times FIRST, would you protest? Yes. Would you win? Yes.
Because the dog was actually giving mouth. The rules dont say how loud, how long, just give mouth 3 times and it is on the clock.
I actually had to minus a dog one time because it barked 5 times while taking a dump immediately after we cast the hounds.
The handler just laughed because neither of us had been in that situation before, and his dog actually ended up winning that cast. But the rules are the rules.

danny, let me ask this question, i know the young dog does this in excitement but what about the guy that has one that use's his full mouth when he's excited going to the other dogs if he tells you before hand do you not put him on the clock?
let honesty run through the veins of each and every judge at each and every trial at each and
every format.

Re: on the clock or not??????????
here is the thing
the difference is so huge between his acctual bark and his chirp, when cut loose around the other dogs,he will let out 5 or 6 squeeky chips, then he shuts up,never does it,he is 5 yrs old and has always done this,as for shockin him,i cat see doin this to a 5 yr old dog,he is set in his ways, shockin him i feal will hurt him more then good,i am a firm believer in tryin not to shock dogs cause i feel it takes away hunt.
dogwhisperer,it is not the same,he does not do this in the check,it has not distracted any dogs yet,he does it off the lead, and goes on about his buiseness.
i know he will do this prolly every time casted,so,i take him to hunts with rabbits, but i still infornm the judge and handlers,i tell the judge, use your judgment,it wont make me mad, cause 9 times out of 10,we will get arabbit, and he gets the strike, but, that is not fair to the dog that actually struck in on the rabbit,i could keep my mouth shut and gamble,in a heavy populated area,i am ahead every time he cuts loose, but,to be fair,i tell them.
here is the thing,ANY JUDGE WHO WANTS TO BE FAIR TO ALL THE DOGS IN THE CAST CAN SEE THE HUGE DIFFERENCE IN HIS LIL CHIRP,AND HIS HUGE BAWL MOUTH,WHY SHOULD HE GET EVERY STRIKE,OR PULL A MUNUS HERE OR THERE SO LONG AS I AM HONEST AND INFORM EVERYONE?????
I FEAL AS LONG AS HANDLERS STEP UP AND ARE HONEST,WHY WORRY,BUT,IF YA WANT TO CLOCK HIM,GO AHEAD,I WILL TAKE THE POINTS,THEN AFTER THE FIRST STRIKE AND YOU SEE YA SCREWED THE OTHER DOGS,YOU BETTER BE CONSISTENT.
I RAN AGAINST A DOG FROM MICHIGAN LAST YEAR AT THE WORLD HUNT WITH BLUE BOY,THIS DOG WOULD HAPPY BARK OFF THE LEAD,IT PULLED 5 STRAIGHT STRIKES,NO MINUSES,4 OF THE STRIKES THE RABBIT WENT INTO THE CAINS WITH NO BREAKDOWN,THE JUDGES REFUSED TO JUDGE IN THE CAINS AND MADE IS HANDLE THEM,WE,THE HANDLERS,FINNALLY CONVINCED THE JUDGES TO MOVE ACROSS THE ROAD AWAY FROM THE CAINS,THE DOG STILL GOT THE 5TH STRIKE OF COURSE OFF THE LEAD,BUT THE RABBIT STAYED OUT OF THE CAINS,BUT,WE WHERE DOWN 50 TO 0 AT THAT POINT,BLUE BOY GOT THE ONLY 2 CHECKS IN THE RACE,WE TIED 50 TO 50,THE 5 STRIKES BEAT ME BY THE TIE BREAKED.
IF THE GUY WOULD HAVE BEEN HONEST,I WOULD HAVE PROLLY WON,THAT IS WHY I POSTED THIS,SO,THIS IS TO ALL THE JUDGES,USE YOUR HEAD OUT THERE,IF YA WANT TO CLOCK HIM,FINE,I WILL GAMBLE,BUT IT IS NOT FAIR TO THE OTHER DOGS,BECAUSE EITHER WAY YA LOOK AT IT,IF YOU CLOCK HIM,YEAH HE MAY MINUS OUT,BUT HOW MANY STRIKE AND JUMPS WILL THE OTHER DOGS GET SCREWED OUT OF BEFORE THE CAST IS OVER????
A BARK IS A BARK,A CHIRP IS A CHIRP,JUDGES DISCRETION,AND I KNOW THIS EVERYTIME I THROW HIM IN THE BOX TO GO TO A HUNT,IT IS A GAMBLE,BUT,REMEMBER THIS,HE HAS MINUSED OUT A FEW TIMES,BUT HE HAS WON MORE THE HE MINUSED OUT,WHY,CAUSE TIEBREAKERS GO TO FIRST STRIKES AFTER FEWEST MINUSSES,IF I HAVE ALL THE STRIKES,I WIN,SO,THAT IS WHY I TELL THE JUDGE,YOU DO WHAT YOU WANT,JUDGES DISCRETION.

GOOD POINT BUDDY WALL,BUT,RIGHT OFF THE LEAD,AND BARKIN OUT IN THE FIELD ALL OVER THE PLACE GOIN TO DOGS IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE,IF IT DISTRACTS THE OTHER DOGS AND PULLS THEM TO HIM,YEAH,HE IS ON THE CLOCK,BUT IF IT CAUSES NO DISTRACTION,AND THE DOG ONLY DOES IT ONCE,THEN GOES ON AND SHUTS UP,NO,ESPECIALY IF I SEE A DEFINATE DIFFERENCE IN ITS BARKL AND A SQUEEK OR CHIRP.

Re: on the clock or not??????????
i understand your point but if it barks three times it has to go on thhe clock no matter what kind of bark it is i have a champion dog that barks when he gets his ear hung in briars if he is not running sometimes one bark sometimes three or more he gets put on the clock for that an its a different bark than when he on track i also have a female that whimpers on cold trail never open just whimper and she goes on the clock.to me its not a judement call it in black an white 3 barks on the clock dont matter chirp bark whine or squeal on the clock.
Re: on the clock or not??????????
Some dogs chirp or whine when they first strike scent. So do you give them the strike or the dog that opens right behind them? If you give it to the dog that chirps on strike ,then you need to put the time on the hound that chirps off the lead.

Re: on the clock or not??????????
OK,BUT ANSWER ME THIS,LETS SAY I TAKE THIS DOG TO THE WORLD HUNT,HE CHIPS OFF THE LEAD,GETS ON THE CLOCK EVERYTIME AND A RABBIT IS PRODUCED,THEN HE GOES ON TO WIN THE WORLD HUNT,I GAURANTEE YA,EVERYONE OF THE PEOPLE THAT SAY HE SHOULD BE CLOCKED NOW,WILL BE BITCHIN ON HERE SAYIN HE WON THE WORLD BY STEALIN ALL THE STRIKES.
I HAVE BEEN ON BOTH ENDS OF IT,BUT ANYONE WITH HALF A BRAIN CAN TELL THE DIFFERINCE IN A HAPPY CHIRP AND A BARK,FACT IS,IF HE IS CLOCKED EVERYTIME FROM HERE ON OUT,I BET HE WINS MORE THEN HE MINUSES,FOR ONE,I WONT TAKE HIM TO CLUBS WITH LOW RABBIT POPULATION.
FACT IS TOO,THIS IS NOT THE ONLY DOPG THAT DOES THAT,I WAS IN A CAST AT THE LIL WORLD WHERE A DOG DID IT,AND THE JUDGE WAS SMART ENOUGH TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE AND WOULD NOT CLOCK HIM,EVERYONE IN THE CAST AGREED WITH THE OWNER AND THE JUDGE,IT WAS A HAPPY BARK OFF THE LEAD,BUT HE ONLY DONE IT ONCE,WE ONLY CUT LOOSE ONCE.
THE WAY I HANDLE IT WHEN I JUDGE IS THIS,IF IT IS LOUD ENOUGH TO DISTRACT THE OTHER DOGS FROM HUNTING AND THE DOG KEEPS DOIN IT EVEN AFTER OFF THE LEAD,I WILL CLOCK IT,BUT,IF IT DOES NOT DISTRACT THE OTHER DOGS AND I CAN DETERMAIN IT IS A HAPPY BARK,AND ESPECIALLY AFTER GETTING A RABBIT UP,I CAN TELL A HUGE DIFFERENCE,I WONT CLOCK IT.
IT COMES DOWN TO COMMON SENSE,THE THING THIS DOG DOES IS SO EASY TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE,BUT,I AM 100% SURE,THERE ARE JUDGES THAT WILL CLOCK HIM,SO BE IT,I WILL TAKE IT,GOOD OR BAD,BUT,IF I WIN THE CAST,WATCH HOW MANY OF THE OTHER HANDLERS COME BACK BITCHIN ABOUT IT

Re: on the clock or not??????????
Danny if what you said happened to you at the World with Blue Boy then you should have won. 2 checks beats 5 strikes on a tie because the most check points tie breaker comes before the most strike points tie breaker.
