I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I had a dog, let alone a pup with a sore that huge. I am surprised the pup is still alive or hasn't contracted dermatitis or serious infection. Get it on antibiotics ASAP and apply medicated triple antibiotic directly to the sore. You can get a bottle of antibiotic from a vet for under $20.00 and the triple antibiotic for around $5.00 at Wally World.

Good luck

I had a puppy this spring that had a similar sore on it's belly button. Take the put to the vet and get apowder antibiotic powder and the right oral medication. I had to treat the puppy twice a day and the wound healed in about 2 weeks. There was not a noticeible scar. Contact me if you want more information. The cost was about $50.00 and no surgery should be required.

Well, if I was so high and mighty I would have my beagles stuffed and put by the fireplace just so I could look at them and pet them when I walked by.

She came here for help, not to have people "mightier than thou" criticize her.
We don't know her, or her situation, $130 may be all the money in the world to her.
I remember times when I was younger and up against it, I had to make decisions about spending $20 or having food for the rest of the week. We were just married, working full time for $7 hour, and going to school. We get older, we get wiser, and don't get up against it like that again.

If you wanted to help you could have offered her advice to care for the dog, or if you really felt bad enough you could have sent her $130 to take the pup to the vet. Instead you try to step on her to make yourself higher.

Even if you have the money, there are economic factors to consider. Is the pup worth $130?
If not care for it the best you can. If it doesn't pull through, you did your best. If it is suffering, dispatch it. If it makes it, there is something to be said for survival of the fittest.

ok for one thing the puppies belong to my brother in law s bitch dog for the next i didnt exactly say we couldnt afford the vet i personally think they rob people who in many cases should be less and in this case i bought stuff and treated it myself and it has closed up and he is doing great for another thing this wasnt a planned breeding she went into heat we thought we get them seperated in time he hadnt got her kennel set up at his house so she was in with our dog but we didnt so sue me ok and no i dont know where to buy pet antibiotics without a vet prescription so if someone wants to send me info i would be happy to get some and no he may only sell them for 100.00 to 125.00 plus the registration fees so thanks for all opinions nice and nasty hope you all have a super day

A lot of wounds can look pretty bad but, will heal up fine. That one is rather deep and I think that I'd at least have a vet look at it. I doubt it is the type of wound that would be sewn up at this time. Most likely it will heal from the inside out. I'd sure want to start the puppy on antibiotics though and make sure that what you are doing is the right thing. Surely you can afford an office visit to discuss it with the vet?

good luck,

Leah

No problem, but some of the members made posts based on your original thread post and the edited post makes them look kind of..... nuff said.

Good luck with the pup. I hope it turns out to be healthy and a rabbit machine.
