Earl,
I dont Trial for Money either, but why wouldnt someone drive the same or less distance to a Licensed Trial of some sort. I do enjoy getting a title for my dog if he deserves it.

If your Trials arent licensed, how do you decide who wins, or why they win?? Do you have set rules, or is everything Judgement by somebody??

Maybe people dont come because they really dont know what they may be getting in to.

I'll have to disagree with you Earl. I go to trials, Little Pack that is, and the only money you see is the money COMING OUT of my pocket. As I said before, if you find some good clubs with good people you will enjoy every minute. I think I wouldn't run at trials that offered money as prizes as it brings out the worst in some folks.JMO

I Agree Totally Jim.

WELL if it was all about the MONEY I would have given up Years ago LOL......We have Compeated (well Shown up) in Every registry Except PKC over the last couple years. To us it is about the hounds and the Folks Who Enjoy them like we do.
Figure We attended over 20 trials Last year and the best we done was a 6th place in ARHA (dang i need to get a good Dog) and a 3rd in UKC So if it was All about Winnin I should have given up A LONG time ago!!!!! We have Done well on the bench but go just to meet folks and have a good time. I Have a blast just BSn With Folks like Crabby and Blair... Howard.E and Even Mark H. just to name a few its about the hounds and the folks who enjoy them as much as we do.
I have not been able to judge but will start this year. We try to help out at the clubs. how many actually ASK what can we do to help?? Even if it is just Walking around picking up trash ,or Cleaning off a table or 2 it all helps. Giving the folks in the kitchen a break so that they can Sit down and BS a little Can mean a lot. Have any just helped do the Dishes? Empty a Garbage Can Ect. These Clubs are there for OUR enjoyment. If the members just See it as Work they will Stop then it all Falls on just a few!!!! if YOU join a Club then you should do your best to Support that Club. Just Showing up for the Hunts aint all a good member is Supposed to do.. If your only in it For the Money or the Win then your in it For the Wrong reasons in My opinion....
After helping to start a club in the Northwest and Seeing all the Work involved. We ALWAYS appreciate all the members do.
The members of these Clubs MAKE the Clubs and there are Always a few BAD apples But the Good Folks always outweigh the bad.
TRY this before you LEAVE a Club Next time Seek out the members!!! Tell them THANK you and Shake their hand.
Some times This can mean More than you Realize......
From Field to Show and Show to Field the way it should be

I did not say nobody come to my trials.I had 138 dogs at the last trial. The fellers that comes here donot chase points. But what does come is from around here.I run this place all by myself.I have 7 running ground and have done four different trial in one day.We do have judges and it is done right. We had a bad time with arha not with them but with the hunters that came here.We realize that there were alot here to get points not to have fun.there was about 7 of us only doing all the work and like you say not even getting a thank you.We realize that the member at our club that when we done a lisn trial we were woking our butt off for someone that was not a member of our club all that paper work and running to keep up with the dog to judge them .And then here somebody fus. That the reason we stop.We do 20 trials a year here but no lisn trial and we like it that way.I got all my member back and more. But what I trying to say is when they done the AKC trial there was alot here maybe and 1 to 2hr drive and past out paper to each one about our trials coming up and have never seen them back. And you know coming to think about it. I was wrong.I ve got more hunters to come to my trials than when it was lisn.I sorry maybe yall fellers donot have a trial to go to unless it is lisn.Oh by the way I ve got a feller coming sat from VA and he say it will take him 3 hr to get here. But maybe I ll see some of you this fall.Question.Why does anybody put so much money in trying to make a FC dog.I know some fellers that will put a dog up north for 2 to 3 mo and pay the man 300 a week to do this. Why? I ve never had one but what so great about having one?

You're more than welcome to come on up to our club Earl. We have a good time all the time. Tazewell club is a great club too. Troy we appreciate the drive you make, just hope you can get the best of crabby again!  . I have not finished above 3rd in 2 years of trialing, but I enjoy it alot. I don't care if my dog is a champion or not. Having a RCH or HBCH or FC in front of the name does not always mean they are a good rabbit dog. I have met some of the nicest people you could have hoped for, and no I have never beat Crabtree either (though I did bet him I could get out of the crab lock at our last hunt when he twisted his ankle). We hosted the UKC state and had some bickering from a couple bad apples, but never any other problems once they rolled far enough from our tree. I look forward to the fall trial season and hope to see some friendly faces again!
