I put a 10' plastic swimpool in my bitches 9' outdoor kennel when she had her pups. It rained for 3 days and the pups all drown, she must not have been a very good mother.
If you let the bitch take care of the pups, why the heat lamp in summer, what your saying and what I see are two different things :?:
My bitches on average most always have 5 or 6 pups a litter, must be their inbred depressed... ...Again we have to go back to "selection", it is everything, whether inbreeding or outcrossing, you can't get by with s slip-up... ;)
Inbreeding for the sake of inbreeding, is a dead end road. There must be quality and constitution there for the need or want of it, anything less and you'll send yourself backwards into this depression you spoke of. The signs will tell you when you've gone to far. that's why you always leave your self a way out to breed. The example of the Branko/patch cross to start my line, if I get week in one area, i breed out to the Branko or patch to pick up what I need and go right back to work on my line again. It's why you bring two families together to start you line, so you have a reliable backcross to go to and get what you need from established families that have longevity on their side proving quality is there.

Hope your litter stays large and healthy, 9 puppies is alot for mama to keep track of... ;)

Ouch  I stepped in that one.

Sandy always had big litters and lost very few. Rose came from a litter of 13, 11 made it. Rose had 9, 8, &7, I can only remember her loosing 1. Bred her back to her best son and had 4. They all made it, but the first few days they just seemed more fragile than normal to me. Maybe it was just my 'magination, she was 8 years old at the time.

Hunting these pups every morning right now. They all inherited their mama's trait of starting out slow  With any luck one of them will finish out fast like she did :D

I remember Cumbrian Lad from Liam's board.
I can't get anything but the home page to come up, is it still being built?
