What the crap??? NO WAY!!!!!!!

About 5 years ago I went to J*******'s Beagle Farm in Southern Ill. and even purchased two dogs from him. I will agree he had several dogs but at that time they appeared to be well taken care of. My cousin and I even talked about what a job it must be to care for all of them as the kennels were not that nasty for having several dogs in them. We watched as he was giving some dogs shots and then I went to the trash can to see what he was giving. There were several empty vials of a 7 way shot that he was giving. There were a lot of people in and out of there that day buying dogs and we talked to a couple who were return customers. I told him what I was looking for and he went directly to several pens and pulled out four dogs. He took us down the road and got us started trying them, he even took a pistol and shot over them as they were running. He left us there running and said just come back when you're ready. We ran about 4 hours and picked dogs up one by one until we had the two we liked. I still have the male I purchased and he is 71/2 yrs old now and one of the best dogs I've ever owned. I will say that the conditions of his kennels must have really declined since I was there. I am sorry to hear it because I would have bought from him again as he appeared to take decent care of his place and was knowledgable and honest about the dogs he had at that time.
I guess what it comes down too is we all have our own opinion. And you know what they say about opinions

Why are our free speech rights being blocked by someone eliminating the kennel names mentioned in this thread??? Some people need this information and it is only opinions anyway, WHY BLOCK OPINIONS???? darn near Russia again!!!(Local expression for Department of Natural Resources, or DNR!!!!) Tony

Because Tony, it's downright rude to name names when you are expressing opinions that carry negative or defamatory implications. You have no proof of anybody being a puppy mill, so that borders on slander. One of these days you may be in the hot seat. You may sell someone a dog and when they get on here all unhappy about it and call you a crooked dog trader, you'll appreciate the fact that I blocked your name.
BTW, there is no free speech on this board. It's a private domain paid for with private funds. As with all other message boards, somebody must moderate to keep it from going entirely amuck so it might as well be me. - Bev

Bluegrass you need to do a little thinking before you post. I know becauce I have made MANY post without thinking.
Bev owns this web site.
She lets us get prety wild, but she has rules and we should go by them.
If you don't like the rules don't come here. We are a long way from Russia, if you don't think folks that own something has the right to use it as they see fit where are you from????

Hi Bev and all.I think you do a great job with this site and more then most might do if they owned it .However if an opinion is expressed in the right kind of way I think it shound be heard, why cover up names of people or kennels that only help themselves and no one else?I think personally that by showing the names it is bettering the breed a true houndsmen. This is just mt way of thinking.Thanks.
Thank you for the kind words.
Why block some opinions? Because opinions aren't always expressed in the right way. Naming names in this manner is not right. This message board has a private messaging feature and if a person is just hell-bent to flame someone else, or hell-bent to hear someone else flamed, they can do it by private messaging or e-mail. No witch hunts on this board please.

First of all, I really was JOKING about the DNR expression...it has been here in Michigan a while from a fella that put a huge sign in his yard expressing his displeasure at our DNR for some land issues, so for those that misunderstood that, i am sorry. As for slandering a kennel, I have no issues with blocking names except that I think maybe the entire post should have been eliminated since most everyone knows which large kennel begins with "B". Also, I have seen individuals on this board ridiculed, defamed and unsulted...I just wondered why a kennel would be different than an individual. As far as I am concerned, you could have removed the entire post since a kennel was the subject of it. I sense some anger towards me for saying that "free speech" was blocked(tongue and cheek I might add) and didn't mean to belittle anyone owning this board. I'm just not that PC I guess. But I did think that opinions were ok to express...I'll have to rethink that and keep some things to myself. No hard feelings were intended...by the way Bev, I never called anyone a puppy mill...Tony
Blackdirt,
The old days didn't have internet message boards. It has nothing to do with political correctness - it has everything to do with slander. When you post negative remarks on a public message board that affect a person's reputation and business, it can easily be legally construed as "slander." You may feel that it is your right to commit slander, but it is often also considered the responsibility of the host/moderator. Depending on the circumstances, they can become part of a lawsuit.
I can speak from experience. My wife's name and organization was posted on a dog trainer's website, attributing her to several quotes that were taken out-of-context and twisted intentionally to make her look bad to members of another organization and make a rival trainer look good. While the B**s and J**s of the world can defend themselves on this board (if they are aware of their names being drug through the muck), we had no recourse in this instance (other than to talk to a lawyer and threaten a lawsuit, of course!).

First of all in order for something to be slander it must be a FALSE derogatory statement. This is where the rub is as one person's idea or opinion of what is true (fact) or false (fiction) will vary tremendously from another's. We as beaglers and people for that matter can't even agree on written rules or regulations and are susceptible to our own personal interpretation, which then becomes our opinion. I normally speak or type in generalities unless my fingers run away with my brain, which happened in this situation, even though my post wasn't negative or derogatory. I do however agree with Bluegrass as I have seen more personnal derogatory statements and or jokes on here by a certain group of people that should have been censored then what was ever posted on this topic. I replied to the topic using the name because my opinion and experiance was totally different then what was posted previously and felt it my duty to say so. I have and do apologize for using a proper name in my post as I do understand the liability that could be an issue to the owner of this board with doing so but I am not sorry for posting my honest/truthful experiance.
