Trapping rabbits

I bought a live trap and have set it up in three different spots where I have seen rabbit tracks or sign. I have been baiting it with carrots and lettuce with apple cider dumped around the trap, but no luck. Had deer tracks up to the trap but no bunnies!

Anyone have any tips?

Try Red Delicious apples; they work the best for me.

Make sure to handle your trap with rubber gloves. I have also used rabbit scent on the trap itself to help keep human scent down. Apples or pears in the trap made a big difference for me with a few peelings leading up to it. Hope this helps.

Somebody on here told me to use apples w/vanilla extract on them. Works great for me. Here is a link to some other things:

I use Granny Smith apples- Make Sure to cut in half to let the scent out

Thanks for bring up that topic, I was about to do the same thing but I thought na he'll do a search and find it. That is about the best way that I have found to catch a rabbit. Good luck to ya catching all the rabbits you can.

I catch 11 last night in the old box trap with 20 boxes set.Road around last night and seen 5 so I put a box out at each place that I seen a rabbit, had then 5 and 6 more this mor.Fogged mor are the best to catch them.I used no bait because I already had the box ready to go.If you ever catch one in a box you donot need to bait it.If I was making a new box, go to a hunting store and get some rabbit trial scent .I ve got some of them traps that you got and don t even set them out. The trap that you got I was trying to catch squirrel in it, out of my rabbit pens and put an ear of corn in it and to my surprise I catch only rabbits.So you mite want to try that.

I have had good luck using peeled apples,canned peaches,and also strawberrys work really well.another thing you could try is wiring the doors open for a few days so they get used to going in the trap.

Apples w/ vanilla works for me. If you are using a wire type trap cover try to cover it up and you will catch more rabbits. Another thing that helps alot is if you take some rabbit droppings and toss them in the box, don't ask me why but it works.

The old box trap is the way to go, but he dont go in there to eat , he goes for shelter and once u catch one i take the bladder from the caught rabbit and thats the only lure u need. pour it in a cup then take a syringe and collect it all in the syringe and spray it sparringly in the box.

This maybe of some help on a Pyramid trap. i use pears and rabbit trail scent.
