I dont know about where you guys are trialing but, I go to these PBGA Qualifiers and AKC SPO Licensed Trials, and I used to think if you know somebody, you have a better chance at placing in a trial, but the more I've been doing it ,the more I'm seeing it's the hounds that get the most quality ground time, are the ones that are consistant to winning, and has nothing to do with buddy buddy stuff. Judges have field champions, because judges know what kind of hound is going to get it done, they know when, and where to trial theses hounds, you dont take a hard hitting hound to western Pennsylvania to run against conservative hounds like they run out there, you dont take gundog brace hounds to upstate New York where they run the HareHounds on rabbit. If you are a man that likes a stylish running hound you probably like Gundog Brace, and if your a Hunter you probably like SPO. I dont know anything other than AKC SPO I dont have Brace hounds. I personally dont think in AKC Trialing there is any cheating where we run. If you are someone that is having bad luck at trials, look at what you are doing with your hounds, are you running them enough, are you in the right format, are your expectations too high for the hounds you are running ? Please dont blame it on cheating, we all want to have fun and those accusations just take all the fun out of it. Just my 2 cents.

Then on top of it, a lot of the rules are just downright confusing especially in Hunting Beagle and the way the rules are interpreted leaves a lot to be desired. I've been told how things "are supposed to judged", lol, and I can't find it in the rules where it says what I am told and I think that's a major reason in people feel like they have been cheated in Hunting Beagle, you can ask some questions to different judges and you'll get different answers, bad thing is they could all be right or wrong depending on interpretation of rule.
