Tracker Classic

Post by MPD068 »

Looking for info on the Tracker Classic with the ultralight collars. Anybody using the Classic? Are there problems or flaws.
I only run 2 dogs so I don't need the Maxima. Ive tried my buddies Garmin Astro and while I like the unit there seem to be some limitations in the terrain I hunt. I just want a system to help recover the dogs at the end of the day
Any info and opinions appreciated Thanks

All you'll ever need if all you run is two dogs...I own two of 'em and run them on all my dogs...Been using the Classic since it came out, no problems ease of use and the ultralight collars are the best out there for beaglers or folks with smaller dogs in my opinion...

I also have a Garmin, I like it but it's not near as applicable for Beagles in my opinion...I like the Tracker with ultralights much better for what I do..

I have the tracker classic 2 dog system and i like it . Ihad one collar go dead but had it replaced. easy to use and it will give you good distance depending on terrain. collar came off a dog once(my fault) and was able to pin point it under a brush pile. Only problem i had was when alittle male of mine went into a foxhole. Spent 2 hours getting a false reading thought the dog drowned in the St. Lawrence. Would recommend to anyone if you are only going to run 2 dogs. Have had for 4 years and so far has been great!

I just placed an add for a Maxima Complete for a friend it is just like new and you can get it for about the price of the two dog system. If you set on the two dog system use my name and you will get the Tracker Pro Team benefit. Otherwise a friend has an older 10 dog system for sale also as he just upgraded to a Maxima Complete.

THey are very easy to use all of them if you live near Cincinnati I can give you some training, but they come with a video and eveything anymore.

A couple of things I would think about before buying the Classic is the inability to add collars or a yagi or omni directional antenneas. I do not like the Tracker brand collars as much as Johnson's, also the price is better and they are tough and light.Having an extra collar can let you not only offer it to the guy your running with that is without but you can use it on your truck to guide you back if in strange territory. With the ability to add a external antennea you increase range and accuracy as well as convienance with a omni on top of your roof if you have to drive for a signal. Not something I have had to do often but was glad I had the options when needed. Also check Ebay or the coonhound boards for a used system there are good deals to be had and I would not hesitate to by a used system as they are very reliable and I doubt you would have much risk of a lemon.I have seen Tracker offer rebuilts at a good price too.Either way you'd go the Tracker recievers get a thumbs up from me.I thinkI do not live too far from you PM me if you want I'd be happy to help any way I can.
