A PLASTIC PUPPY FEDISH

Guys I have to tell this story on my pup. I have a 8 month old male hound that has alot of puppy left in him and he loves to chew on plastic water bottles. I along with two friends took our hounds out tonight and started hunting and my pup started working the briars just like the old dogs until he came across a plastic bottle. Well he would play with this plastic bottle for awhile then go back and hunt some more. After about 15 minutes of "play time" he started hunting really well and ended up jumping 2 rabbits on his own. I had my chest stuck out saying how good of a hound he would turn out to be if he just keeps going. After about 2 hours of really good hunting for an 8 month old the dogs hit a good running rabbit, my pup was in the middle of the pack running like he has been doing it for years. When the pack lost the rabbit in a briar patch, my pup was in there searching to find a scent just like the older dogs. After about 20 seconds my friends dog picked up the check and out came the pack. I looked up and seen my pup running in the middle of the pack with a plastic water bottle in his mouth, I about fell over laughing. I looked over at my friend and he said "just give him time Duane, just give him time."

Chortle.Maybe he was just thirsty :-) Yep that is what pups can do :-) Nice story.I love messing with pups.They make you beam and pop buttons on occasion and then again humble you in front of your buddies.

But having dogs without having some pups would be no fun ! Your partner was right just give him time.

One of my favorite dogs over the years was names Little Man Mike Tyson. He got the name cause he was so little as a pup as he had been sick but was a fighter and survived. He was also always getting into trouble (Like Mike Tyson).

Long story short, his trouble cost him his life. He was bad to chew on plastic (bottles in the field, burried pvc in his kennel, ext) . Somehow he enhaled a very small peice into his lungs. He sat up infection which we faught for months until he lost the fight. Necropsy told the story.

Only telling this because it may be funny now but is a bad habbit you need to break or it could cost him his life too.

my pups are bad about those plastic bottles i started bumping myne a lil bit when they start playing with the bottles they will leave them alone for awhile jb

We had a coonhound pup do that a couple years ago. We turned loose and started along coon field. He was about 7 months old. He took off hunting, we hadn't named him yet. Well anyway about 20 min. later in he comes carrying an old Miller beer can. He carried it flipped it in the air all night. Yep you guessed it we named him Miller. He became a gr nt ch. We got ask several times why we named him Miller. It was a good joke.

HurryUp, I guess when Ol' Miller became a Grand Night Champion, he was living the (I can't resist) "HIGH LIFE!!!" Best to you , and a good story. Southern, thanks for the warning. I have had pups play with bottles and never thought about a hazard. i will watch carefully and bump mine too if it ever happens again.

Like I said Duane "Just give him time" at least he didn't have to stop by a water hole for a drink because he carried his with him.
