Who profited from the monetary free lending practices, oil bubble & over build up of housing, when, at last the chickens came home to roost?
Surely, not those who are without jobs and those out in the streets? If the restrictions on lending are eased, the more money I can get for my house and the more houses I can build. the more loans I make on houses the bigger my bonus and the more loans I can sell to investors. Instead of keeping these risky loans together in one house at the end of the block, I wrap them separately and place one in each house all over the city so when they catch fire, we all burn together.

No, the Dems did not beat the Reps, the Reps beat themselves. It was kinds like playing hot potato, who was in charge holding the potato when the buzzer went off! Each administration had their term to right the ship, but gift of finance is a hard thing to turn down to do the right thing, human nature is always against us.

Another attempt to blame Bush for not fixing all of Clintons errors without holding Clinton accountable. The economy including the housing and loan buisnesses were holding good until mid 2007. Reestablish accountability to the Company and the share holders.
