Hey Madcatter, how are you?

Simply stated, the most balanced diet you can give are raw, whole animals ... fur/feathers and all ... and intermixing rodents, fowl, and heavier meat items (goats, cattle, etc.). These are what dogs are supposed to eat.

Beyond that, it becomes a guessing game of mixing and matching nutrients that we humans put together. As stated in my book, a great resource for information is http://www.nutritiondata.com for checking out the nutriton profiles of the feed items you intend to add. It is my opinion if you stick to 50% flesh, 35% tripe (guts), and 15% organ meats (heart, kidneys, liver, lung, spleen) ... and keep a big fat bone around at all times ... your dog will have a balanced diet. Adding yogurts or kefir for extra calcium never hurts, and I personally like to add shredded vegetables to the mix for trace vitamins/minerals (although many raw feeders feed no vegetables!).

The thing about raw is, nothing is set in stone. Wild dogs never eat the same thing daily. We humans tend to feed our dogs the same thing daily only out of our own convenience, not because it is the best we can do. We surely do not eat the same thing every day for ourselves

i have been raw feeding about three weeks now,not daily but everyother day.just havent gotten the one dog to get a good stool yet, other 2 doing fine.
i also have been supplementing with a product called k9 super fuel.
i got a 8lb jug of it a couple years ago and since then stopped giving it,but i think it can be added for the extra trace stuff i may be missing.do you recommend the ingredients of this stuff--or is it just hype.
i used it when i had only 1 male and i just flat out ran the hair outta him, year round and i think it helped him stay together lol
