My word is confidence also. When i get one like that i take it with one or maybe two more dogs and i try my best to jump a rabbit before the dogs. When i do i put the started pup on it first and let the other dogs come to it. Gaurantee you it will not take long for him to start packing if he don't the first time. It is easier for a pup to run with another dog if the other dog come to him rather than the other way.

Breed the bad traits out and keep improving with your line, i'm not saying to pass the bad gene down the road cause there is some dogs out there you can't help. If you breed a dog you breed to improve other wise your just running a puppy yard sale kennel.
I think that 99% 0n this board breeds to better the bred cause i haven't seen a hound out there yet with no faults.
Like stated this beagle has the right tools and a late start, just need to put the time in till the switch comes on, ya know sometimes you got to put a little effort in (WORK) to make a better hound, if ya don't have the time to train or help a hound then why bother. Never seen 1 yet that anybody didn't have to put some work into to get it going. It's just gonna be tuff cause the dog is older and wasn't put on the bunnies earlier.
