A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
Run this morning , wasn't carrying a gun and had left my pistol in the truck , would not have help I don't think. Had 6 dogs on the ground & they were pounding , when Loudon Ridge Patch Copper a young male split off from the pack run'n a different rabbit I saw them go over the ridge , the rest of my pack was fairly near a road. I'd never seen a yote in this place but I was trying to get the 1's near the road in a bit when I heard this male squall 1 time , I broke into a run calling the 1's near the road and screaming towards the split male , had to pass the truck to get to my male so I grabbed my pistol , about 50 yrs over the ridge I found him , he was almost ripped in 2 and part of his throat was tornen out. I only saw 1 yote run'n away from near where I found him , but their had to be more than 1 , I poped off 2 shots while run'n but was no where near hitting the yote. Man I was sick & still am , just hope and from the looks of it , it was quick. Guess it happens but never had anything happen that quick , he was maybe only out of sight for 5 minutes. Now I'm going yote hunt'n

Sorry to here that Randy. Its scary to think they can tear up your beagle that quick...Its prime time to go after some Yotes, i would try to clean em out, and put the fear of GOD into them...

Randy, check with Bopeye, last I remember he had some yote dogs.
Expecting a carjacker or rapist or drug pusher to care that his possession or use of a gun is unlawful is like expecting a terrorist to care that his car bomb is taking up two parking spaces
Thanks guys ,
I know some that run yote's but their are too many roads that criss cross the area , I wouldn't want someone to get a hound ran over.
Good news is a have a buddy that works for a outfit called Predator Control Group out of Dayton,TN. and he's in town for a couple weeks , call him & we went and talked to the land owner , of coarse the has no problems with us getting rid of as many as possible , he said shoot'm or trap'm as long as his cows & calves couldn't get in the traps he also said he'd lossed a calf or 2, he thought to the yote's . My buddy set some traps yesterday and we set up and called in 2 yesterday , he will run his traps this morning , hadn't heard from him this morning yet . Hunting & trapping yotes is right up his alley , he travels all over the US doing this as well as most all other Predator's , they do a lot of work for DNR's and high fence operation removing unwanted critters , yote's , beavers , cats and whatever . Hopefully one of the 1's we shot yesterday was the 1's that got my hound ;-)
Sorry to hear of your loss Jumpdog. Always rough to loose a good one. We have had some yote problems up here on the mountain also, but so far none have been brave enough to tackle one of my beagles yet. I've just got to where I don't run them at night on account of it.
Sorry for your loss Randy. i almost lost a couple hounds to yotes one time and i haven't let up on them yet. We(me and the boy's) kill everyone we see.Hope that buddy of yours helps get rid of them things in your running area.
