I don't have blinders on PMB, you see when I started following politics I had no idea about the parties or their platforms and as I got older and discussed with my dad the parties I learned most of my family were southern democrats or moderate dems as they are called. Never had the oppertunity to talk politics with my grand-dad but my grand-mother was a hard core conservative, I guess I'm a lot like her in my beliefs. My conservative veiw comes from years of studying both parties and the effects their actions have had on this country.
