New Dog Not Performing
Moderators: Pike Ridge Beagles, Aaron Bartlett
Swing, good to be back. My lifestyle has made a sudden change not of my choosing but one that the Lord has set me on, and I'm curious to see what He has in store for me next. What did Murphy say about me? I'm not aware of ever slinging anything his way, but Perkins has a way of twisting facts around to cast a dark shadow over me. Why, just the other day i was telling Perkins that he would be in my next Beagler article and he immediately thought I was going to slander him. It's not going to be slander exactly. Well, he'll be ok unless his wife reads it!!! Now, how's that for cat-killin' curiosity! By the way, to make this post legit, I got a nice redtick beagle a few years back that was raised in a campground on Cherokee Lake in TN. TNbeagleman can attest to the fact that there are literally thousands of rabbits on those in the summer, I'm sure. Long story short, he had learned to sight chase until the rabbit ran under a camper or vehicle and then he would look for another one. I gave him away for a pet. He was useless in a briar patch.
Each hound is diferent and will require different times to adjust to their new owner. It is best not to run them at all until they are completely adjusted to their new home. Certainly they will not perform their best or at times even at all when they get to their new home and then again many a good hound has been lost by new owners who took them to the field too soon before they had bonded with the hound and the hound ran away from then never to be seen again.
As for money back from a breeder it's always best to go see the hound perform before you buy the hound and that way you know if the hound suits you before you buy it. If you know how a hound performs in his home territory and when you get him home he doesn't perform as well as you know he can then you know he is not yet adjusted to you.

Ramey(Mr Mom) I know your new lifestyle and that is good of you while the wife brings home the bacon. If you hurry and get the children raised you could run dogs again.Oh yea,Lance said he would kill you a few rabbits this fall to eat, seeing as you'll be to busy to hunt much.
Now i don't know anything bout Murphy cuttin on you,but i asure you i had nothing to do with it.You have to watch sometimes where you get your info.
Can't wait for the article,do i get a cut of the earnings or just get cut on?

Ramey, can you feel the love for me on this board, I guess you will be invited to the TWI hunt J. Murphy is putting on next year, we have set it for sometime in November or December next year in Ky.
Payout I think is 10,000.00 for first, and a Toyota pick-up for 2nd, and for 3rd I heard they will recieve a JACKET.
Hopefully no one will get killed at this hunt, it is suppose to be like a buddy hunt, my problem is finding a buddy to hunt with.
If you hear of any let me know , just thot I would let you know about it, I am sure you would be invited.

Perkins, VEEEERY funny. FOr your info i ran my hound(s)? yesterday morning. J.Murphy, Perkins isn't bright enough to instigate but he can keep it going once someone with a fair amount of intelligence starts it. Did I just say that Trent has a fair amount of intelligence? OOPS. Oh well, I didn't say what he has a fair amount compared to. By the way, J Murphy, you don't have to call me Mr. even though Perkins has ondoubtedly filled you in on my big belly and premature gray hair. Look forward to seeing you sometime when you come up to Lynn's. Hey Perkins, I may soon be closer to you than you might expect, can't say any more right now. By the way, Perkins, I will gladly share a cut of my "earnings" with you from proceeds from my next article. Nuthin from nuthin leeeeavves nuthin! I write for love of writing. Can you feel the love on this message board? Bev probably won't even publish it anyway when she sees what garbage I 'm capable of.
