New dog barking in kennel

Post by RHYRE »

I just bought a new 8 month old pup. He is really mouthy in the kennel. I took a sunday and a shock collar and kept him quiet but it didn't help. I was just wondering if anyone has tried the "no bark collars". I wasn't sure if it would be a good idea to put one on a young lightly started dog. I don't mind the barking as muh as my wife, maybee I should put the collar on my wife. LOL. If anyone has any ideas let me know. Thanks

I have used one on a 10 month old pup started at low setting worked my way up to 3 before was enough to keep him quite, they get collar smart real quick though. I had to put it on him on occasion between and the late night butt beatins he got the point in about 3 weeks time.

Same here, it'll take some midnight trips to the kennel as well as the bark collar but he should learn. If not then he wouldn't stay at my place very long.

And I can tell you from experience it only takes one time of the neighbors seeing you go storming across the lawn at 1:00 in the morning wearing just muck boots and your underwear and carrying a plastic whiffle ball bat before they stop inviting you over for cookouts. Man I sure miss Mark's barbecued chicken.

Oh yeah, I've had bark collars on dogs as young as 8 months before with no problems but remember each dog is different.

Same here Bunny Blaster I live about 500 yrds from my kennel I have got mine so trained that if they are down there raising cain at some critter if they see my porch light come on all you can her is dogs hittin the back of the boxes and crickets. If they hear my 4 wheeler fire up they all know they are in for it so it works........ Just have to be consistent!!!!

Guess I'm lazy I ran a water hose with a grip style spray head run it out to the kennel take some rubber bands and rap around the sprayer part so it is stuck onwards then at night if you hear them barking just turn the spigot on and it will spray the dogs usually shuts them up fast first night or 2 you will hit a few times then after that they learn pretty fast won't hurt them and wont have to worry about them fearing shock if they open on a track.

No bark collar should work 2 buddy of mine uses one on his hounds at the edge of a town.
