ALPINE KENNELS
I know there seems to be some controversy about Mr. Adams but can someone who has seen these dogs run tell me your opinions on them? Thanks

Re: ALPINE KENNELS
brushyfork - I am not sure as to exactly what your question is. Are you asking how the dogs from Alpine Kennel run? While I do not own any of them, I have bred and raised enough Beagles to know that from the same brood stock you get the good, bad and ugly, Brace speed to 8 plus head bangers. This in no way can be said of a specific kennel or bloodline of Beagle.
As I understand this issue, it is all about the dogs being misrepresented, both in bloodline and quality.

Re: ALPINE KENNELS
Bill im confused on your post i got a kennel full of patch hounds and can tell you for sure that there is not a slow one out there. now if i took 1 of my males and 1 of my females and bred them i can tell you there wont be a slow one in the pack and all will have a good mouth and plenty of hunt. but i can also tell you they are all linebred or inbred thus giving me certain traits that are going to be uniform and be there in each cross. I cant speak for alpine kennels and i think that was the
on the post other than them being mis-represented thanks cojax

I dont know i give those 2 to my neibor about 2 yrs ago that was my exp with pups from there .But all the pups i have raised have been equal in ability maybe 1 better than the other but the same on speed ect..
Re: ALPINE KENNELS
It's my understanding that running style was not the problem. There was supposedly a problem with names on the reg papers matching the DNA of the dogs being sold.
Re: ALPINE KENNELS
FWIW, I've heard the exact same thing as Newt.

Re: ALPINE KENNELS
cojax - I am at a loss for words to answer you question. My Gay linebred dogs cannnot not compete with yours and I fear nor can anyone else's. You are indeed fortunate to own such a perfect kennel of hounds. I bet you have culled a lot of dogs to get what you have or are all Patch dogs perfect? You see, dog breeding is not an exact science, if it was, none would be culled and few litters would be born, every dog would be a FC and gun hunters would have their dream packs. There would be precious few breeders because no one would let any of their hounds go down the road. Of all the people visiting the board, I venture to say that their are not 10 more that would seriously say of their dogs what you say of yours.
You are obviously proud of your hounds and that is as it should be. But.....I have to take what you say about them with 'tongue in cheek".

Re: ALPINE KENNELS
At the risk of sounding like an idiot
, I'm going to ask a question. However, I need to preface it just a little.
My Dad, when I was little, ran beagles, straight up Gay. In fact, I remember, as a kid, going down to Frank Reese's house in Taylorsville to run dogs. Dad bought several pups from Mr. Reese to start our kennel in the early 80s. Dad believed in the Gay line (we had a few hounds right out of Baker x Cindy) and still does, as that is now what we are re-starting in the beagle business with. FWIW, we went straight to Kevin Jenkins and have been nothing but impressed. Anyway, the Gay line is pretty much all my Dad and I have ever known and run. Now, I'm certainly not kennel blind, Gay certainly isn't all that's out there, it's just what we like.
So my question is this: What are Patch hounds? Is Patch a strain like Gay, or Yellow Creek or Weir Creek, etc? Whenever I've seen pics of Patch hounds they all look a lot alike.
I've always heard about Patch hounds and was just wondering.
