I'm tempted to send you a gift in the mail! I love it! Now, to answer your post question; "What's better than a dead coyote?" Answer: One standing at the open end of your barrel.

I shot this coyote today about lunch time right at my dog kennel! Looks to be a young female. My dogs were going crazy and I looked out the window expecting to see a cat or something and there was a coyote standing 10 ft from their pen. I have had coyotes show up several times at my kennel, but everytime has been at night so far. A little history - I had a young male dog killed while running a rabbit a while back right here at my house and I killed a coyote last summer sometime that was attacking and killing a neighbors dog. They are getting brave around here. I have heard stories of other folks in the area having their pets killed as well.

By the time I got the rifle out of the closet the yote was moving back thru the woods. I suspect there was more than one, but I only saw one. I started making a "kissing sound" with my mouth to stop the coyote for a shot and to my suprise the coyote turn and sprinted at me and at about 30 feet, I "growled" and stopped it long enough to put some hot lead thru her chest. I was standing on my patio!

Pete
What does that make it now that you've killed right behind your house? Six or seven?

Nice job! I have had dogs jumped as well by coyotes. The two cases were around dens. Sounds like those coyotes at your place are VERY bold. Not good. I have neighbor boys hunting coyotes in my area and I try to hunt them as well. Since we have 20 plus inches of snow on the ground, I am going to pick up the call and give it a try. Good job and nice pictures. :check:

Yeah Ricky my next two Sat. are already booked w/ two hunting trips out of town. But, let's try and get together in March for a run. Would like to see your upcoming young hounds.

Someone else commented that is looked like hair was chewed off the rear of the coyote. I didn't notice any hair missing. The blood on the back is where the bullet exited. This coyote however didn't have as nice and thick a coat as some. Its amazing how some coyotes will have a beautiful thick coat and others look ragged and rough....killed on the same farm, the same time of year.

Dana - not sure what that makes for coyotes in the past year. I can think of 4 that I shot fairly recently that were w/in sight of my house and then another 3 or 4 that were shot w/ in 500 yards are so.

They are too bold around here....that is for sure. It makes me nervous to even turn my dogs out at the house.

Nice work! Nothing better than dead coyotes!

As much as I hate them, gotta admit those two are a pretty pair.
