Re: Extending unemployeement benifits???
Deadeye I wouldn't let it stir me up too bad. I am amazed that you have middle class democrats that love to play class warfare and cut the head off of the people with the resourses to get the economy back moving foward, while at the same time don't mind giving more and more of their hard earned money to people who are adding absolutely nothing to growth of the economy , if anything they are stiffling it. I don't get it, choke out the providers and lift up the sponges. Go figure, and we wonder why things are like they are.
I have learned that if you don't agree with this administration you have to be either a racist, biggot, fear mongerer, or some other derogative name. It can't be that you just have a different ideology, set of priciples, vision for your country, belief in what freedom means, what accountability means, what ethics are and so on.

Re: Extending unemployeement benifits???
tommorrow i go to work--recalled for one day.
unemployment says i can make up to 228.00 and still get my total check of 585.00-when i make over 778.00 for the week i get no unemployment check
after i make 228.00 they take a dollar of my check for every dollar i make over the 228.00
for 8 hours i will gross 273.12
for the 2 hours overtime(working a 10 hour day)=102.42 for a total of 375.54
so 375.54-228=147.54
585.00-147.54=unemployment check of-437.36--drop the cents to 437.
thats if i dont get recalled to another job during the rest of the claim week.
some mayt think this is abusing the system, but its the system.it also isnt near what i would be makeing if i worked my normal fulltime hours.
do i like it-sure,but i would rather be makeing my full wages and not claim
some think unemployment is alot of money, others too much but its about 1/3rd of what my normal wages are

Re: Extending unemployeement benifits???
Government programs are not charity they are shackles and chains to the mediocre. My church does charity, I give to causes and to those I know need help. The government giving away our taxes to create puppets is another thing altogether.
Re: Extending unemployeement benifits???
Deadeye & jb,
The rich and the Companies are doing very well thank you. Watch the market and the earnings reports coming up. We're all sitting on more cash and the equity/ to debt ratios haven't looked so good in years. Our ducks are all in a row for the next elections, we'll make more money to boot and will be hero's for putting people back to work...just watch and see...
...only hope we don't have to go to war with some dictator over our foreign investments...we've got a ton tied up with them...
Oh, and i respect your and everyone else's opinions, the suspense will be seeing who's right...

So Patch the government should go after those who are managing their finances in tough times. I believe if you knew as much about the financial situation of the wealthy companies and individuals as you would have all of us believe you would be one of the ones your talking about. LMAO!!!!!!!
HERE'S THE REAL QUESTION AFTER ALMOST 2 YEARS IS THE COUNTRY BETTER OFF THAN IT WAS BEFORE OBAMA TOOK OFFICE. EACH OF US WILL HAVE TO ANSWER THAT FOR OURSELVES.

My answer to the above is Of course we are. No. 1. The man has been in office since Jan. 11, 2009. Makes about 18 months. No. 2. Of course we are better off. After 96 months of George Bush (who by the way, initiated the first 800 billion dollar bail out of the banks), we were on the verge of total financial ruin, fighting two unending wars and dealing with the largest run up deficit in history. It is not easy reversing these trends.
Maple Valley: The current president is not a muslim (although, it would be legal for him to be president even if he was a muslim), he has not sold out (whatever that means). JMO

Re: Extending unemployeement benifits???
Buck I find your post interesting, I believe we are much worse than before Obama was elected. I do agree on Bush for the most part, he did start the bank bailout (which I was against), he did grow the government and the deficit, he did get us into two wars ( which I think where inevible) all true the financail crisis though belongs to the democrats. I will elaborate, Clinton repealed the glass/ stegall act that regulated wall street and Clinton deregulated the community reinvestment act that allowed the sub-prime lending fiasco. The Bush administration sounded the alarm on the financail problems only to meet resistance from your Chris Dodds and Barney Franks. I don't blame Obama for all the problems we have, neither is is all Bushes fault, I perfer to hold all of our leaders accountable for their actions. If you want to know how we got hwere follow the legislation not the rhetoric.
I blame Obama for sueing a state trying to protect itself when his administration is not doing their job on the border. I blame Obama for stirring race by calling a police officer stupid and accusing him of racial profiling when he doesn't have the facts. I blame Obama for continuing to spend when he promised to pay as he went and talked down on Bush for not paying. I blame Obama for backroom deals when he vowed to stop that. I blame Obama for offering jobs to get some candidates out of races. I blameObama for allowing vote buying to pas his agenda. I blame Obama for spending faster than Bush did. I blame Obama for continuing to grow government. I blame Obama for ignoring the will of the people. Should I keep going.

Re: Extending unemployeement benifits???
Rabbithound: Your position is very well stated and I agree with most of it. What is your solution other than voting everyone out? We vote the rascals out and we just get different rascals in. So what do we do? I am not sure what "the will of the people" is. It seems the "will of the people" voted these people in overwhelmingly. Maybe in November, we will have a better idea and see where that takes us. For now, have you heard about the giant solar eruption that is heading our way as we speak? Could make all of this silly stuff really unimportant. Check it out.

I didn't say the Gov should go after anybody.
The tax breaks were scheduled to expire, they were not permanent cuts. Lots of cuts coming in all areas when money is short.
An for your misconception, you CAN know something of finance and not be at the devil's table...

I think the REAL question is, can we pull this plane out of the dive...not, are we better off...

You ever see those old war movies of the dog fights? The pilot would climb a steep accent until his plane stalled and then dive to pick up speed to out maneuver his adversary. Well, wars he** on the home front too.

Best of luck to you.
Re: Extending unemployeement benifits???
For those of you who are still into this post. The solar event I discussed can be found here. These things happen all the time but this is the first time one so large has headed directly at us. Politics, will seem real unimportant if this thing disrupts our electronic world as it very well may.
GLOBAL ERUPTION: During the early hours of August 1st, NASA's Solar
Dynamics Observatory recorded a complex global disturbance on the
Earth-facing side of the sun. Most of the sun's northern hemisphere was
involved in the event, which included a long-duration C3-class solar flare,
a "solar tsunami," and a massive filament eruption. As a result of these
blasts, a coronal mass ejection (CME) is heading toward Earth.
High-latitude geomagnetic storms and auroras are possible when the cloud
arrives a few days hence. Check http://spaceweather.com for movies and
updates.

Re: Extending unemployeement benifits???
Robert, did you ever feel really really small in the great scheme of things?
Re: Extending unemployeement benifits???
S.R. Of course. It is only our ego that makes us feel we matter. Only when one comes to grips with this idea, does one really become humble. The humility of insignificance.

Re: Extending unemployeement benifits???
Buck I personally don't think all need to be voted out, some will be replaced with someone even worse. I believe if you are going to vote you should get as much information on the candidates as you can, everything is relevant and should be scrutinized, doesn't matter what letter is in front of the name.
I am not ashamed to say I voted more against Obama than I did for McCain, too many questions not enough answers, he said on t.v. that he didn't wear the american flag pendant because it was divisive though he later started wearing it, he sit in that church for 20 years with a pastor that promotes black liberation theology, he befriended Bill Ayers a convicted terrorists, he missed or voted present on numerous votes in his short time in the U.S. senate and lastly he ran his campaign on the platform that a vote for McCain was a vote for 4 more years of Bushes failed policies without convincing me at least that he had a better plan or even a real plan at all.
With McCain he had a long record of service, he was a military hero, I felt he had more skin in the game for america even though he was not my choice to begin with. I felt out of the two it was an easy choice. I at least had a reasonable idea who McCain was.
Patch I may be a little sensitive with the constant (lets get the wealthy) while the number of people sponging off of the wealthy and the middle class is continuing to grow. My point is maybe the wealthy do exploit the middle class but at least the middle class gets something in return, while the free loaders exploit both and give nothing in return.
