Senate Republicans say they'll block tax increase

By ANDREW TAYLOR, Associated Press Writer Andrew Taylor, Associated Press Writer – Mon Sep 13, 7:32 pm ET
WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama's plan to raise taxes on wealthier people while preserving cuts for everyone else appears increasingly likely to founder before Election Day.

Senate GOP leaders declared on Monday that Republicans are, to a person, opposed to legislation that would extend only middle-class tax relief — which Obama has repeatedly promised to deliver — if Democrats follow through on plans to let tax rates rise for the wealthiest Americans. The GOP senators forcefully made their case one day after House Republican leader John Boehner suggested he might vote for Obama's plan if that ends up the only option.

-REMEMBER THAT THE RICH WOULD ONLY GET ABOUT 100,000.00 AT THE MOST AND SEND IT TO SWEDISH BANK'S AS THEY HAVE BEEN DOING FOR THE LAST TEN YEAR'S---IF THE MIDDLE CLASS DOES NOT HAVE MONEY THEY CANNOT MAKE THE TOP 1% RICHER ,BY SPENDING THE MONEY,SINCE ALL OF YOU ARE NOT IN, THE TOP 1 % I'AM SURE YOU WOULD SUPPORT THE MIDDLE CLASS TAX CUT'S,DON'T YOU.

The Vanishing Middle Class: Inside Out

Middle class American families are in distress. Despite the enormous increase in wealth in America over the past two decades, for most Americans in the middle, wages have been flat -- or even losing ground. At the same time, the costs of basic necessities, including housing, health care, food and education have continued to rise. The recent economic slow-down, combined with the melt down of the real estate market, has made clear that the very fabric of the American dream is being ripped apart. That dream was once embodied by the stability of the middle class, and the idea that hard work and playing by the rules would be rewarded by a fair wage and the possibility to move up the economic ladder. But that is no longer the case for millions of hard working Americans. For them that dream has been transformed into growing economic insecurity, and in many cases, actual economic struggle.

Hey Rufus
Just in CASE you Missed it.....

"The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."

You left out a BIG part of the story. Let me help since you can't even cut and paste with any integrity.

WASHINGTON – Congressional Democrats on Tuesday wrestled over whether to abandon President Barack Obama's tax cut plan, with some House moderates joining Republicans in calling for an extension of Bush-era breaks for the wealthy as well as middle-income earners.

But Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi remained solidly behind Obama's proposal to allow tax cuts for upper-income people to expire as scheduled at the end of the year. From lunchtime into the evening, the leaders met behind closed doors with members concerned that voters would punish Democrats on Election Day if tax cuts are extended for some Americans, but not all.

E-MAIL.Mitch McConnell.
: March 17, 2010

Mitch McConnell is a five-term senator from Kentucky and the Republican minority leader.

Mr. McConnell is considered by many colleagues to be among the savviest tacticians in the Senate and a relentless opponent, a trait that may have sprung from his battle with polio as a youngster.

Before the health care fight, before the economic stimulus package, before President Obama even took office, Mr. McConnell had a strategy for his party: use his extensive knowledge of Senate procedure to slow things down, take advantage of the difficulties Democrats would have in governing and deny Democrats any Republican support on big legislation.

Mr. McConnell has come to embody a kind of oppositional politics that critics say has left voters cynical about Washington, the Senate all but dysfunctional and the Republican Party without a positive agenda or message. But in the short run at least, his approach has worked.
Even Mr. McConnell's fellow Republicans say somewhat admiringly that he can be a secretive and coldly calculating tactician with an eye for political openings, someone more consumed by political strategy than ideology or philosophy

NY Republican Candidate: Prison Cells for People on Welfare
New York gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino has said, if elected, he would turn some of the state´s prisons into dormitories for welfare recipients where they would receive state-sponsored employment, job training and lessons in "personal hygiene".
Paladino has also promised a 20% state budget cut and a 10% income tax cut. One of his methods of paying for the budget cuts would involve housing welfare recipients in prisons who do work for the state ranging from military service to public works.

"Instead of handing out the welfare checks, we´ll teach people how to earn their check," Paladino said. During the recession, New York´s welfare has grown slightly while food stamp eligibility has almost doubled. New York´s primary is Sept 14.

According to Glenn Beck the nations 1.4 million Americans who have been out of work more than 99 weeks are "a bunch of un-American losers."

Beck went on tirade this week against people who can't find work and feed their families.

"I'd bet you'd be ashamed to call them Americans," said Beck

I don't believe that is what he said, what he is saying is that the working class taxing cannot sustain the professionally unemployed for ever. Just like the professionally welfare recipients. Each person has to pull their socks up and pull their own weight. Yes misfortune happens, but you have to pick your self up and make it better yourself. No one can make things better but you! Only you control your destiny. If you want to live on unemployment the system makes it easy to do so. If you want to stay on welfare the system once learned makes it easy to stay there. The hard part is getting up early every morning and going to work for Satan himself every day of the week and not getting home till dark to earn that pittance of income so that some sap can apply for 3 jobs in one week and draw the same income. Tell me what job sounds more appealing.

I guess this is PMB's clearing house for cut and past stories of the mislead and misinformed. Maybe he will keep his misinformed babblings on this one thread and leave the others for people who have original thoughts and can actually discuss issue of importance.

That's the Hope and Change I'm looking for.

GOP fiscal plan would raise debt $4 trillion: report

By Daniel Tencer
Wednesday, September 15th, 2010 -- 8:02 pm

The tax plan put forward this week by Republican leaders in Congress would add nearly $4 trillion to the national debt and would be offset only by a $300 billion spending freeze, a Washington Post analysis states.

While the cost of the Tax Hike Prevention Act of 2010 hasn't been calculated yet, the Post reports that a similar but "slightly more expensive" plan analyzed by the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office found it would cost $3.9 trillion over 10 years, making it roughly four times as expensive as the Democrats' health reforms, which will cost less than $1 trillion over the same period.

Glenn Beck To Fat People: ‘I Say Let Them Die’
Since First Lady Michelle Obama unveiled her Let’s Move! program to fight obesity, conservatives have portrayed the effort as a government assault on personal freedoms and liberties. After the administration released a report on obesity in May, Matt Drudge ran a headline saying, “White House seeks controls on food marketing” and on his Fox News show, Sean Hannity asked: “Does every American family need a dietitian appointed by the government to tell them that this food is going to make you fat and this food is not?” Yesterday, Glenn Beck joined the act, criticizing Michelle Obama for encouraging restaurants to “offer healthier versions of the foods that we all love.” He also joked that fat people should die:

BECK: When I heard this I thought, get your darn hands off my fries, lady. If I want to be a fat fat fatty and shovel French Fries all day long, that is my choice. But oh oh, not so fast anymore. Because now we have the new fact, whether you like it or not, we have government health care now. … You know those fat people sitting on their couches? And I mean really fat. I don’t mean not like me. I mean the people who’s skin grows into the couch. … I say let them die. I say punish the person who’s been bringing them the milk shakes that allowed them to eat and not get up off the couch. Am I too harsh?

Well PMB, lets see Hannity, Beck, Limbaugh, Palin, none hold any public office so while you contnue to try and divert the focus off of Obama and his misfits don't worry I'll be watching them.

You are a funny guy, drowning in the kool-aid but still funny.
