SR, tsi la gi,
I have two 8yr old 3/4 patch from Swampman and a 1yr old from Dewey Harless out of Lesage busterpatch and Deweys dam forgot the name. The snow down in SE WI is all but gone so now my 1 yr old from Kentucky can finally run a full circle. I do love the way he runs on sod. You can take the dog out of the south but cant get the south out of the dog i guess. Nice st8 legged tall 17 "dog just working on running in the snow @ 14 mo I dont know if he will ever be a good snow dog

Mjs how far are you from Swamp? Are you the one Swamp brought the pups to out of Reddog1`s stock?

Buster's grandsire went to Newfoundland, Gypsy was one of Darrel's best snow hounds.
Most houndsmen I've seen from the nort' realize a young started hound from a seasoned snowhound. Who's his mama? how long you had him? I may know a home for him if your patents wears thin... ;)

SR, I know the differance between a seasoned dog and a pup thank-you. And I also know for the amount of tracks I ve fed him in all kinds of conditions since 4 mo old that he should get the Idea by now and should see some progression. But Im looking for a gifted dog and in my opinion by a year old with the amount of time I have in him you kinda know what you got. Im giving him till the end of January when I will be going to Indiana to get a female from Yottie Gunner

I don't understand why you keep coming south to get your pups then. Yottie's bitch come out of South Ill., Johnston Beagle farm.

Stay with Northern kennels when buying a PATCH HOUND. I have six at this time all doing well on snow and sod. hope they keep up the good work. Three are Eight and half years old.

SR, I dont consider central IN out of the snow belt. Yottie says she does well in snow and has been run in it before.Plus the sire is reddog1's Cletus dog out of Michigan.

Ranger Dan, Greenbay Shooter stuff seems to excells in tougher conditions. Some crosses are better than others, but just about every hound i have seen out of shooter has been a good one.

This is one of my 6 month old Rangerdan breed pup. Running a rabbit on snow. It was her first time on snow. Eithere they have it or they don't. They have to be breed for it. If your willing to go to Indiana for a dog then you you could also check with Adam Seager. He has Shooter at his kennel and breeds that Rangerdan stuff or as others have said at the very least go with some patch hounds from the northern part of the country...Just my opinion.....Deerhost

The best "snow hounds" that I have ran with were Spicer Blueback bred. I am not sure who still has this blood around, but they could get it done when most dogs could not.
