Most labels on pesticides say that. read any label. they are for saftey sake but they are overkill in worse case sernio. i talked to an epa man and dept of ag men for many years. for example the label on termidor says some crazy things but it is the safest termite product ever. we dont need to eat the tags. pesticides are mixed on a weight based system. and 10% is nothing in compared to frontline, and pesticides that are over the counter. but by all means we need to use caution and good old common sense. Most spray products in the pest industry is atleast much stronger than that and i worked with them for years and im not glowing and had all our children and they are A/B students so we need to be safe but not scared.

before you put those tags on your dogs talk to your vet we will not put them on a one hundred pound calf let alone a twenty pound dog. I am sure in most cases you will not see a problem just know they scare me.

The purple cattle tags work great, I've been using them for a few years now with no problems! The first time I put cattle tags on my dogs collars I bought the orange tags, they both work good but it seems like the purple tags work better (JMO).

Great for fleas and ticks but will harm your puppies in the wound of a female when welped i had a whole litter born with out faces never happened before and myself and tony upton believe that this was the cause. remember these are for 1500 to 2000 lb animals not for me no more.

Purple inculded, none of the cattle tags should be put on dogs. Lot of nice hounds die early from liver & kndney failer & this is due to over use of ivermec & cattle tags. I know alot of folks use em & they help with fleas & some don't have any problems & some do. But it is playing with your dogs life when you use them.
Here is a link to some more discussion on cattle tags. The poster HunterDVM is a vet & you can read his take on it.

Let me ask you this question. If you take the cow tag and cut off a small piece and put on collar what then? I mean like a 1.5 in x 1.5 in. Cut a slit in it and put collar thru it. I get the 1500 lb cow issue but...........no one answers the statement that frontline has 50% of the same ingrendent that cow tags have. Is frontline dangerous or give live or kidney disease. I am a country boy and I know that 1+1=5. LOL but come on frontline has 50% and cow tags have 10%. Just got a question that has not been atempted to be answered yet. It stand to reason if 10% cow tags are bad for dogs then 50% frontline is just crazy to put on a dog. Not being smart, i just dont understand and I want to understand. A tomato is a tomato no matter how you speak it. 10 % is 10% and 50% is 50% isnt it??????????????????????????????

My box of Frontline says the active ingrediants are Fipronil 9.8% and (S)-methoprene8.8%. Is that the same as permethrin?

no it is not. excuse my spelling. fipronil is the same product in termidor sc a termite/ant and a buch of other stuff pest control product and in termidor is is 9.1% I have put that on my dogs for years but i have since retired and dont really want to order a bottle of it so i was looking fot other cost effective answers. All i ever heard was use the cow tags and now im using it now i hear dont. i have friends that use cow tags and i have seen no ill effects but i have alot of money, time and i really like what i have and dont want to take any chances. But with all the years of experiance in the pest business i know that the label is for worse case sernios and i also see that dogs dont weght 1500lbs but if you cut the tag down and limited the exposer to the dogs it seems that you would be ok. the folks in the pest business that has ever had problems is those from over exposer from years of working around the sane products day after day. so if you limit the exposer and cut tag down it should work without problems......????right????

update to post:...i found what i was looking for on the tractor supply site. It is a product called liberty and here is some info from there site...

i use the purple tags and a couple years ago i bred a female and left her collar on the whole time even after the pups were born i must have been lucky because she raised 7 nice healthy pups with no problems one thing good about those tags when she had those seven pups it was in the summer and flys weere baddd those tags kept the flys off the pups i leave them on all year till i change to a new tag in the spring jb

As far as 10 % in this & 10% in that, a good way to look at it is if someone poured a 1 gallon buckett of red paint on you and the gallon buckett was only 10 % full and the next guy got a 100 gallon buckett of red paint poured on him & that buckett was only 10 % full. The 1st guy wouldn't have to much of a mess but the 2nd guy would have a real big mess. The volume of the products are totally differen when your talking the ears tags versus flea controll products for dogs.
As far as the tags, here is the company who makes them. Give em a call they will be glad to talk to you. Other than that I'am glad the ones who use em have done well with them and my condolences to the ones who haven't had suck good luck.
