NEW DIVISION FOR OVER 15 INCH BEAGLES

Post by COB4190 »

With all of the discussion on where will the over 15 inch hounds go, NKC is interested in hearing from individuals who would be interested in having a division for then to run in. Many of you already have your hound registered with NKC and belong to a club so there would be no extra cost to the hound owner to run in the new division. In all of the competition registeries, there is no place for the over 15 inch hound to go! Give NKC a call at 1-865-932-9680 ask for Joyce.

Why not just go with harriers or swiss hounds instead of a large beagle?

Since several on here claim there are no oversized dogs running in LP im guessing entry numbers would be pretty low.

everyone knows theres 15/15.5 in hounds in every lp trial,im just saying inforce the 15in strict but give the oversized hounds a class to run in.every day breading throws oversize quiet a bit. akc has two classes why not nkc? personally i like the 14in hounds but im not scared to set down with a 20 in hound and ill never contest a soul no matter how great the hound is.like i stated everyone knows in every hunt theres well oversized hounds, the only time their ever measured by a competiter is when its a good dog,the judges should contest the size b4 each cast if their really close and if over be forced into the bigger class.i own one thats oversized and has bin in many big 5 hunts and granded on the bench over,so if its this big of an issue how did he get were he is,exspecially doing it at all big 5 hunts! its just people going on the theory that half an in. is going to beat them thats sturring this pot so much! matter of fact their not worried about the .5 they just know its a lifeline they can throw if its a great hound! my oversized hounds trials are # anyways my other two are well within the guide lines.i just feel that hounest breaders should be given somewere to run if their hound does go over. now if your breading and getting 17 in hounds more than likely a coonhound slipped in your kennel!

I think the club's would be the one to lose on this ideal, they would haft to buy more awards for the over class, and would you run your reg hunt then at the end of the day run the Over class or what? ...

what about a 13 inch beagle thats a barn burner they are giving up two inches to a nkc legal 15 hound nobody is sticking up for the little dogs seperate them by size or leave them alone and let everyone take their chances and tell the crybabys to dry up!

As I understand it from some friends who run bigpack/nkc/arha....they run up to a 16 inch hound right now. I`ve seen a couple of the trials and the dogs that won those days were still under 15 inches, at least looked that way to me. I have never asked for a hound that looked big to be measured tho. If your not confident in your dog winning against a large dog only running an hour cast maybe its time to upgrade. Just my opinion.

your right,i have had my :moon: spanked by some of those pocket rockets! i think if its a beagle throw it in the mix, everyone knows what it takes in lp to win,if your dog cant put that out leave it at home! ive seen 12 in hounds stomp muddleholes in 15 in hounds butts. size doesnt mean crap in these lp trials,as a previos poster said "its only an hour cast" now if they had to run 2 or 3 then the big dogs may get an advantage.most the time around here the handlers are painting harder than the dogs at the end of the hr anyways cause your lucky to get a few quick races in.

only problem i see with this is guys will then breed to stretch the new height limit.....Lets say the big class is 15" to 17" max. You will see guys breeding and trying to get there blodline to 17 1/4". Everyone likes to stretch the rules and this particular stretch would be BAD for the breed.
