Dog gets car sick
Got a young female that's coming on pretty good.(when I run her behind the house.) Put her in the box for a little road trip to run and she throws up all over in the box. Now I'm only talking about a 6 mile trip..It takes her a little while to snap out of it when we get there but she is very sluggish and not herself.......any input would be much appreciated....thanks, Dick

You can give dramamine for motion sickness. 2-4 mg per pound orally every eight hours. I have never tried it so do not know if it would make them sleepy or not. Might be worth trying out though.
Good luck

Don't feed her the day you are going to haul her & give her about 3 saltine crackers when you load her in the truck. Some days when you are working around the outside of the house, put her in the dog box & just let her sit for a hour, don't even have to go anywhere, it will help. I have seen pups you could put in the box & they would start slobering before you even move because it stressed them so, once they get comfortable with the box, the ride won't scare them half as much.
Hey Plowboy I wish you would practice what your preaching.Evertime I
haul is hounds they puke all over my dogs and box! He might feed them
just before I get there on purpose.(lol)That's how family will do you,I guess!!!!!!!!!!!! Just kidding Cuz

I would not give her the dramamine, you think she's sluggish now. Plow is right start letting her sit in the box in the driveway, not moving. I had two females that got sick every time I made the 20 minute trip to my running grounds. One weekend I took them on a 6 hour trip one way to run with a buddy. When we got there they were a mess. After the return trip home they were clean. Been clean ever since.
