I have watched several run. My kennel partner has a female straight out of brankos kennel. She has good hunt, extremely good line control. she is 6 or 7 on speed. When she opens her mouth the rabbit is up. Now I have watched several that have good control when in the front. The minute they loose the front they will get rough till they have it again. I have also watched several that run just like my kennel partners. I guess what I am saying is that it depends on which branko dogs they are out of.

I'm pretty impressed that people could tell so much about this pup from a 19 second video of him crossing a road.

Hookset: I am thinking the very same thing. Nineteen seconds is a brief time to reference a pup as it applies to a breed of dogs. Let's suppose you did not know its pedigree, just suppose, then what would or could be said of it?

ME TOO, I'm not sure I know that much about the pup and I own him ;) I don't care though, he's on his third circle, ill take a little swinging if he can bring it around 3 times by himself at 9 months .

That's what counts. Keep it up, his desire seems to be there.

hookset, my friend, There is a lot more happening there than a pup crossing a road.
Buck, I am not referencing a pup as it applies to a breed of dogs. I saw a short clip of a pup that is a Branko bred hound running a rabbit , I don't have to explain what was going on to experienced houndsmen. And most of all if you like it you like it,and this makes it good. All I was asking was, is this typical of the Branko Line, I have seen a few run and they all seem to have this same style. oef10, don't get the idea I am bad mouthing your hound, I am not, I just wanted to know if what I saw in the video was typical of the line. I am off to Turkey Camp for a week, goodbye.

There are a lot more crosses in that pup than Branko so to consider that pup as your Branko reference is a little unfair.

 In my opinion Its not fare to label this pup a "Branko". Branko is in the breeding but others have had there hands in it for a couple generations.

bbg, I think you are exactly right , but I was asking if the pup is indictive of the branko hounds we normally see today. The hounds I have seen run that I was told by their owners were branko hounds all run similar to this pup. TrlBusti Beagle, He has a lot of Branko Blood and most would probably consider him " Branko Bred" . doesn't matter you are missing the point , Let me explain it this way , I have seen a few hounds of Branko breeding run that run very similar to the pup in the video, is it anyone's opinion that Branko Hounds run a similar style to this pup. There does that taste better to you!

Every pup/dog I own or have ever owned run with a style similar to what I saw from that pup. The breed, to me, is not relevant. That pup has it all in my eyes and not because it has some Branko blood in it. It is because it looks like it is going to be fast and faster. I like that.

do branko dogs do this all the time ,no some of the time, yes. some more than others and some not at all. branko dogs are not run the line and dont get off type of hounds but they will get a little wild sometimes. if you want to find more conservative hounds they are out there and they are branko. if you want big swingers they are out there too. maybe one day i will be experienced and know what im looking at because i saw a pup cross a road and looking good doing it.

I didn't get the rabbit on video, but the only time he was off the line was while he was in the road. He never opened while off the line.

from what i gather on here , if there is Branko anywhere in a 5 gen pedigree , no matter how many times , it is Branko bred  , in my eyes , if Branko didnt breed it , it aint Branko , his wisdon and knowledge on making the right cross is more important than the dog , i would be willing to bet no dog in his kennel runs like any of these so called "branko" dogs , 99 % of the blood that left his kennel was ruined shortly after by self proclaimed breeders that made crosses that he would have laughed at , and i couldnt agree more , this is a nine month old pup , how can you judge anything off of that short of clip from a dog that young , i read all the time on here about year old dogs that havent even started yet , i think he is well on his way to being a fine rabbit dog

Also, what I saw in the video on the pup is what I have seen on just about every Branko Bred hound that I have watched run. Some over run quite a bit more and all have done their check work by swinging back in a circle trying to find the line just like the pup is doing. I am not bad mouthing it, if you like it then it is good. To everyone else, the question is, after viewing the video on here by oef10 of his pup running is it your experience that this style is typical of the Branko line.
Also as far as trials go, if you look at better beagings monthly issue with trials results you will see that some trials depending on the region have almost no Branko bred hound trialing such as PA the surrounding areas. .

You got that right! Branko is a swear word in Western PA, trust me, I know from experience (In AKC SPO that is)!!
