Biggest Full Blooded Beagle youve ever seen

Post by MasonsBeagles »

Folks,
The other night I saw the biggest full blooded AKC beagle I have ever seen. I know what the parents are and it is amazing how big this hound is. He is every bit 18" a horse. Unreal. Wondering what the biggest anyone else has seen.

My first one I ever owned was 16 3/4", I haven't seen any bigger than that, but there are certainly some around.....

I've got a black and tan with Striker breeding and Bramlett breeding that is 18 in tall...You would think with legs like that a hound could really fly, but he is medium speed at best...Great nose though!!!

Hi all!

This morning, I was watching animal planet. They were covering a dog show in England. In the hound class they had a beagle. It was a big old thing, I would guess in the 17" range. The announcers said that was one of the main differences in the "american bred" beagle and a true english bred beagle. Those english bred beagles look like what we used to call small july hounds. Maybe that's where some of these big dogs get it...

Wouldn't you like to have a pair that were below 15 inch solid light tan July hounds today? I would. I didn't like the hairy tails on the July or Triggs, I forgot which had them. July dogs had the noses and sure could run a rabbit.

Guest, I will post a picture of old Rosco later. He is 100% Beagle out of
PP Ch. JD's Ranger X PP & LP Gr Ch. Rising Sun Jumpers Zudi....both of which are AKC.

He is 18" - 49 lbs of beagle power. He looks like a small walker.

See ya,
Randy

Perkins (or Guest) I took some pics of Malachi on my digital camera but before I could get it back into the house the memory card melted. Ran right out the side of the camera! Got another one, same thing. Finally got a 1 gig card. Took one pic of ol' Mal and brought the card into the house, stuck it into my' puter and crashed it. Took it over to Butsy's and he wouldn't let me put it in his usb port, said that Malachi's so big and ugly that Microsoft would sue him if his didn't crash. What's a beagler to do? I know, breed Malachi and see if some of the ugly breeds right out of him. Does it work that way? It seems to have worked for me, I was right cute before my first was born. I got right distinguished right after my second was born. Now I'm about as man-purty as I could get. That's why me and Mal get along so well. Like a magnet, but instead of positive and negative, we got purty and ugly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On a more serious note, I remember someone who posted under the name "Swisshounds' once and posted a website with about some of the finest, houndiest looking hounds I ever saw. I think they ran around 18" and came in every hound color phase except brindle. THere were b/ts bwt, redtick, bluetick, etc. I'd like to find that again but haven't been able to locate it. By the way, is there really any such thing as a moorhound, besides in Sherlock Holmes? Or is that some "Houndsman" fiction? (I don't make a habit of it, but I have read it).
