I have a black lab (besides my beagles lol) that is either scraping the pad of his foot or chewing on it i am not sure how he could be scraping it i am leaning more to the fact he is chewing on it in any case i have putting pad kote on it to heal it up which is working but my question is do dogs actually chew on their pad and how can i stop this i go thru this about every 3 weeks thks

Often, not always, obsessive chewing at a foot or joint can indicate pain like from arthritis. Just like we may unconsciously rub a sore wrist or hand, they chew on them. Other possibilities would include a tumor(possibly in the bone), foreign body within a toe or pad(like a thorn sliver), or even OCD(obsessive-compulsive disorder). I would recommend having this seen.
