i don't know about kentucky but in my neck of the woods its about the best dog. myself and a few others judge every round with few exceptions. we strive to catch everything that we can and bring back the best dog. but i guess you could say we buddy judge because in nw pa and ne ohio we are all buddys with one thing in common we love our sport. maybe all you buddy judge complainers should come up here and if you don't win i suggest you dog up. as far as my area there is a reason why people such as dennis kennedy, bill gildersleve, bob lahti, and a few others do alot of winning. its no secret its the dogs. tese 3 houndsman have their breeding programs down pat and produce all-star after all-star. after judging for years and my dogs losing all the time with my buddies judging them i finally dogged up with one of these bloodlines. best move i ever made. stop being kennel blind a see what is winning and get some of it or sit in the corner and cry " i got cheated"

I've only been into beagles for a couple of years and I try to hit as many trials as possible..I can say that I've personally never felt cheated..I've never won nor placed but I understand that I don't have the dog power to win (yet). I go to participate and to see what kind of dogs are out there..I don't blame it on bad judging or buddy judging or any other excuse..I feel that it's real easy for people to blame the judges instead of taking a hard look at there hounds.. I'm sure that in rare cases this happens, but I do not believe this is the day to day practice of ARHA..Once again this is what I have observed in a few years..

I also believe that when you start going to these trials ONLY to win you are going to become disappointed.. To me it's a chance to see some dogs run, and to use that as a gauge for the quality of my own hounds.

As for the ARHA actually declining, I haven't been into it long enough to remember "the good ol days"..Maybe i'm just jumping onto a sinking ship. I feel that it's a good organization, I like the way the dogs are judged, and I will continue to participate as long as there are clubs within a reasonable distance of me.

Well ill tell you what I seen at a kentucky hunt it was in the champion class the dog that one ran a deer out of the country and the Judges never said a thang and it took the owner hours to catch the dog..... Now later own that year after making a champion the dog struck a deer race and was found dead a few days later after I seen and heard all of this trailing done me in ....... I would say that don't help trailing honesty goes a long ways and I don't see any honesty going on at a trial......

I think the decline in ARHA is due to the following factors:

1. More formats in other registries.
2. Gas prices.
3. Lack of kids attending trials (and sticking with it).
4. Lack of able bodied judges.

I really haven't seen the so-called buddy judging.
But I have seen guys out there that have very little "hound sense" carrying a score card.

Some guys complain about getting screwed all the time.
These are the guys that need to stay home.

-I really like that post 007
It just about tell's it ,first you and your guy's are all about buddy judging as you admitted in your post ,I have never met you or you your friend's as far as I know ,But you just admitted to Buddy judging .
Then go on to say your friend's have their breading program down pat --now that is a joke in it''s self,The biggest beagle Kennel I have ever heard of Branko Krapan- got may be -1- Super Star out of a 100 pup's ,and that is probably an over statement
But ,the best part at least to me is how you were getting beat and your buddies judging you.UNTIL YOU GOT SOME OF THEIR DOG'S ,,so what you said was you couldn't win until you got in the winning click bought some of their dog's judged with them etc.
It Truly is funny how that work's ain't it ---Dogging up I mean.

And people continue to wonder why youngster's and even experienced Beagler's are leaving the Sport --

And By the Way Buying a Good Hound Doe's not make anyone a good Hound's man anyone with the money to spend can go out and buy the top hound at the time .

Just my opinion
Keep'em Running

dont trial but to hear a dog had ran a deer and still won, that in its self is shady shady shady, i believe alot of trials are legit, but also believe probaly as many are rigged in some type of way, just have heard to much from people , and i dont believe everybodys pissed because their dog didnt win, just dont buy it, when a person can hear the breakdowns in a race but the dog that won got twice as many checks ? shady shady shady just my opinion though lol

I have never run any LP, I run NKC big pack but, the numbers have been up and down, not we are not having 250 dog hunts like we did in the early 90's. but I feel the decline is due to, price of gas, folks feel they should win every hunt and some one cheated if the don't, not enuf young folk in the woods and some of the old one are not able, I would like to see all the formats grow. and being on the big pack BOD i do listen to all ideas that are brought up, and try to do what is better for big pack and not one person or area. Would love for some of yall to come give it a try, :D

Me and 20 others seen the dog running the deer I have went to thousands of trails and for the most part they are great but you take a young person trailing a dog and loses to a bad call and their done well their you have a person that will never trail again!!!!!!!!!!!

my hounds has one trailers and some are champion out and I run the breeding I wanted to run not what my buddy's have I buy my dog food I feed, water and care for them!!!!! I trail and keep the hounds that make me happy not my buddy's !!

pine mutt only a liberal idiot like you could take my post and twist my words around to come up with that intepretation. the point of the buddy buddy thing was that we are all friends up here. by the way the bloodline i swithched to has never judged dogs in his life let alone mine. i take serious offense to your interpretation of mypost but the source doesn't surprise me.
