Love mine, I do a lot of Sq and Coon hunting also and the Alpha don't drop signal like the 320 did

You might want to run check to see if its been updated, Garmin released one in Jan, to fix a problem with compass arrow pointing wrong direction.

I have the alpha and 3 collars love it.I had to update the alpha to fix the compass problem .It doent drop like the 320 I had with 40 collars. The all in one collar is great.I fell like Im forgetting to take things cause you dont have to take all the chargers for shockers, trackers, And other things I had to carry on trip.

I've been happy with mine...works in sub zero temps...isn't affected by rain/snow and the signal strength is great. It's nice to have an all in one unit, less messing around with charging and putting on collars....only one handheld to carry. It's all win.

I hear ya'....I started out with the Alpha with 2 collars and stopped there until I was able to test it in below zero temps and in heavy snow....it passed with flying colors so I ended up buying 2 more collars and got rid of my 220/DC 30 set up and Trashbreakers. No regrets.

I love mine also. Started with a 2 dog unit to make sure I liked it then sold Trashbreaker and 320. I have a 3 dog unit now. Will only need a 4 dog unit at best. Never run more than 4 dogs at once.

They probably won't come down in price until Sport Dog comes out with a new one or that other company (I forgot the name of the company.)

From an economics standpoint, the price is relatively inelastic.. I.e. People who have the money will buy them at a higher price because they are super useful and cheaper than loosing good hounds even if the price was higher or lower.

They could lower the price and more people will buy them but then they lose out on the extra money from getting all the people who will pay a higher price. Then in a year or two they can lower the price a bit to snag more customers.
