how young is too young

Im a new old beagler just got back into it and was wondering what a good age is to start e collar breaking my 7 month old pups?

When my pups start running is when they start wearing a shock collar. Be easy with them at first unless they decide to run off game. Mine are usually tone broke after a couple times in the field.

i usually try to break mine as soon as there big enough to wear one it makes the hunting part so much easier to do if u can control them better. I start with them on a big lead line about 25 feet once u get them coming to u turn them loose in ur yard i have my son playing with them and if i can get them to leave him and come to me it is working

If the collar fits, and more importantly if the pup know to come to you on command then i start toning him after i call. If he doesn’t come back or the tone bothers him i will put the check cord on him, call him in and tone once after giving the command then lead him to me. If the pup knows to come on command then a light nic should not bother the pup. If the pup yips from the nic (nic being a very light shock) then runs harder to you. just reinsure the pup when he makes it back to you.

as soon as they are big enough to wear them sometimes i break them to come before itake them to the woodsi have even broke them off my chickens when i had them barking in kennel all kinds of ways to break a pup the sooner the better jb
