Pretty disturbing if you ask me!

Pretty disturbing if you ask me!

Post by Briarhoppers »

I've been involved in a lot of different hobbies to include sports - baseball, basketball and soccer, hunting of all kinds, fishing tournaments, bird dogs, hounds, beagles, etc.

I must say that I have never seen or been involved in a sport that has so much argueing, whining, name calling, etc. Reading many of these post makes me feel like I am back in jr. high!!! Its really getting to be pretty disturbing. Are we houndsmen that love the outdoors and want to hand down a heritage or are we a bunch of jr. high girls? Anyone want to venture a guess why beagling is like this?

And the congregation leaps out with a loud and thunderous ....AMEN

I read so many of these posts and I expect to read within them the following

NANANANA BOO-BOO STICK YOUR HEAD IN DOO DOO

Some folks just need Drama in their lives to get them through the day and here on these boards they have found the perfect outlet, many times they can do it as a "Guest" just to get things stirred up a bit.

Another reason is it's tough to read the posts the way they were meant. Someone writes it thinking positive and someone else reads it seeing something negative, you can see that in many posts whereby the author of the thread states they are going to leave the thread alone because it has gotten completely away from the original topic.

Either way we the readers must decide what we are going to read and respond to, please don't judge the whole tree because of a few bad apples, when used properly these boards can be very informative with a plethora of knowledge so sometimes we have to take the bad along with the good.

Just remember that it takes all kinds to make this big ole world go round so read what is intersting to you until it isn't.

Take care

I believe the main reason is the feeling of security from being hidden behind the computer keyboard. I have been around 30 to 50 rabbit hunters in the same building & there is hardly any of this smart mouth or running down of others that goes on when you are face to face with a man but let them hide where they can cast stones without worrying about getting a mashed mouth & everyone seems to be Superman.
You put these know it alls face to face with the guy they run down & I bet they would be quiet as a mouse.
On the other hand, it makes for good entertainment & makes you want to tune in to see what happens next, I just laugh at most of it, but do worry some youngsters will get the wrong impression & choose not to get involved in the sport because of a few bad apples.

Its like if you make a typo or you miss something and ask a question people want to be a smart a@@ and call it to everyones attention. I only degrade my friends and I am only playin when I do that. lol I would never say or degrade someone or someones dogs that I dont know or have never seen. It goes back to how you were raised I guess. Respect if you want respect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You see it on every board and it gets old after a while. Typically though, it's just a few that are constantly involved and I just skip their post. The wealth of information that comes off of these boards, far out weighs the trash talk. Also note that one each of the boards, you're seeing more and more people getting banned. So the Moderators are doing their jobs and in whole, the boards are getting better. Anyone remember the SPO board a year or two ago. I could barely stand it. It's fairly clean now.

Plow nailed it on the head. If we were all hunting together or running dogs, I bet we would have a fine time. :D

Besides that, Plow's a pretty good sized fella, so if you go popping your gums at him........then GUMS may be all your left with.

I haven't met hardly anyone in beagling that I just can't stand....yet. I'm talking personally, not on this silly machine we gawk at all the time.
I'm sure I will some day meet someone that I would rather not be around and if/when I do. I won't hang around them. Simple as that. ;)

These boards do make it tough to ignore anonymous "guests" slack jawing. Chaps my hide, but I am learning to cope a little better with it. Doesn't bother me as bad as it use too.

Thanks for the feedback. I actually meant to post them topic under Just Talk'in Dogs, but glad to see some good responses anyway.

I will also add that just about everyone that I have bought / sold beagles to or ran / hunted w/ have been extremely enjoyable to be w/ or deal w/. Guess it just must be the concept of the computer that makes people think they can act however they want.

I've not gotten involved in trials but reading posts over the last couple years I get the impression that they are as bad as these boards - I hope not.

I will also add that I do really appreciate these boards for what I have learned from them. They are also entertaining at times as well - just lately it getting pretty tough to find new info. for all the bad mouthing.

Hey Bopeye, you forgot to tell how ugly Plow is!!!! I would do that but it may sound negative, You're right briarhopper it does get bad at times I pick on a few that I'm sure will know it is in fun, But I would like to point out a real positive thing about these boards because of them I have meet and gun hunted and trialed with Jumpdog and Plowboy and meet Bev, Ted Peercy, Goose and others that I have enjoyed being around and THERE ARE A BUNCH OF PEOPLE TOO MANY TO LIST THAT I WANT TO MEET AND RUN WITH. Most of the negative are guest and so far I don't think I like him or her LOL

i think overall the boards are a good thing. ive met people from all over on here. just had trackman from NJ here hunting last week! never would of met him without the boards. of course there are a few idiots wherever you go but you just got to call them out and people will figure out who is BS and who is alright.

Northway dog

Hey lonewolf does your son still have that Northway male for sale?
If you were on trial for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?
