Bopeye-That was a pretty good one , man I cant stop laughing. But I dont agree with you. I think a dead Branko dog will out search most others. But just my opinion and you know that they are like ( ) everyone has one. But just a little story my buds dog circled a hare on 3 legs and had her intestines falling down the inside of her back leg and she brought that hare to the gun without a wimper and if we would of let her she would of ran until she was dead. maybe im just fussy, but i try to keep my dogs in a bit better running shape than that...

My buddy bred the dog and one of her nipples swelled up real big. He took her to the vet and he said it was a blocked milk duct. We took her up hare hunting this year for our first trip of the year. On the last hare of the trip I told him that she was limping. She wouldnt put her front leg down. Well needless to say my buddy couldnt here me and the dog proceeded to run on 3 legs and I am telling the truth. When we got home my buddy took her out of the dog box and she yiped. He noticed that the lump in her sack was bigger. He took her to a different vet and the dog had a hernia and her insides were in her leg. He got her fixed up but we cant run her until next year. I had her brother and he was lemon and white and when he got done hunting he was full of blood. No kicking brush with those 2 dogs, they tore it up and went all day.

LIke it or not, Branko's have a distintive look. They stand out like a sore thumb around here. Even the hair has a "different" texture and the brown is dark rather than tan. I can normally spot one a mile a way just from the shape and length of the muzzle. I got one in the pen out of two Brankos I used to own. At one year, she is coming on strong in the field and getting prettier all the time!

weather u like it or not branko breeding s responsible for alot of other kennels foundation, and how can u generalize "branko" dogs ,there is so many different types of branko line u cannot generalize , i mean is jackpot the same a lumberjack or is leroy brown the same as tuff ombre NOOOOOO , LETS GIVE SO CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DO!!

In the past 6 years I've judged all the big name Branko dogs that have came into the Northeast. I've watched them run on 4 feet of ice and crust, to the dry hot logged out Adirondacks, to the wet cold cedar swamps of Massachusetts.

They are all good looking hounds. If you see an ugly Branko dog, then Branko and Frieda probably didn't breed the dog themselves.

The best one out there right now is Warlock, if you can get a pup out of him...do so now.

I have found that the Casanova stuff is the best. The reason being is that they search and stay close on a check. Warlock is producing as well...the first Warlock dog I had a chance to see I put a win on.

NOW I SEE HOW YOU ARE!!!!! If hitting on that feller is up your alley I will make sure we are never alone in the woods when I come to New Hampshire this year to run hounds!!!

And as far as a distinct look to these hounds I concur. I think I can spot one a mile away. As a matter of fact I have a Ninja/Rising Sun cross bitch that has that look...but most hounds that run with her never see much more than her ass anyway as she leaves them in the dust so shes pretty enough for me. LOL

I guess I'm a little different than most. I like open marked, black, white & tan, ticked hounds. Maybe because my first real good beagle, FC Wells' Silver Spring looks this way. She placed in 10 out of 13 licensed trials with 4 wins. Now I seem to prefer and even breed for this color. I just never did prefer black and tan, red, blue, or lemon. I have judged some great hounds of all colors though: bluetick-FC Blazing Trails Blue Diamond; red-FC Shroader's RJH Slammer; lemon-FC Clear Cut Red Bones; black & tan-FC Blue Bank's Pleaser.
