A lot has to do with how much they running and type food.
If I feed dog chow it takes 2 to 3 cups a day for me to keep mine looking good.
I usually feed earthborn fish formula with ole roy performance mix.
One cup a day will keep them looking healthy and plenty energy.
Also want add my kennel is heated.
So dogs don't burn a lot energy to keep warm.
A lot different things affect their daily food requirement!

Re: Dog Food Amount
1/2 cup just doesn't sound like enough. The chart on my food bag say for a 5-10 pound dog--1/2 to 1 cup.

I am going to defend Casey on this one. I have an older female, will be 8, and in the summer about a half cup keeps her just where I like her. More and she gets chubby, really hard on the older ones.
She can still run 4-5 hours in the summer on that amount of feed. I am not going all day with her, but she has no problem functioning as normal on the 1/2 cup. This is just her, I would still watch my dogs weights closely.
I have never understand why anyone would let them get fat in the "off" season then it takes them half the season to get to the weight they should be at....JMO. I want mine ready to run 4-6 hours at all times, more if they running is good..LOL. They just can't do it at a high level if not at the proper weight.
