Just For Fun

Post by thornie »

I wanted to comment on the post about formats. I saw a lot of good input and opions. I myself wish they would do away with checks. Here's a little thing that happens here where I live. In the summer the guys from ARHA,UKC, AKC get together in the evenings, twice a week and turn our dogs loose. No lines, no checks, just dogs running a rabbit. One gentleman 78 years old drove 80 miles one way to come and run dogs with a bunch of friends. We had 22 dogs on the ground at one time, never had a check, never had a split, just dogs running a rabbit. We didn't care who was doing what it was just the sound of the dogs and a bunch of guys having fun. :D Beagle hunts kind of remind me of a football game, throw a pigskin in the middle of the field, and you have trash talk, fights and guys chasing this little ball all over the field. But the next day they can all set down at a table and eat a big dinner together. I know the beagles I have probably fit the critera that was talked about in the other post, but I like them and I guess that is what it is really all about with all of us.

I think getting paid what they do(in sports) makes it easier to kiss and make-up. Why, I hear some of these boys make over a $100. a game to play ball, we only got $7.50 a day to put up hay ;) ...lol...Patch

Thornie, I agree. Went to a VA fun run last year. Met some wonderful people, saw some good and some "not so good" dogs. Mine was in the latter catagory....lol Anyway, we had a blast. No one busted on anyone or their dogs, just a good time for all. I wish we would organize more of these. (HINT) WV is halfway between Ohio and VA, sounds like a tri state fun run in the making.
Dogs don't have to look good to win tittles, but conformation "enhances their chances"!
