Thanks in advance :)

This would depend on how far along the bitch is. Ya left out a lot of information that would help determine the answer to your question.

go to http://www.geocities.com/samlyn0001/
Then go to my links
At the bottom of the page is a pregnancy calender. Put in the date bred, sire and dams names. This should help you through the signs of pregnancy.
Good luck

 I surely need my own software the way my luck is running. I had one for the last couple years and that site dissapeared. I found this one and you are right. It isnt working correctly. I just found another one so cross your fingers and hope that this is going to work. I think I will contact this person to find out how I could post one of my own on my site. Good luck with this one. I really like to use it as record of my breedings.

OK, you have used the pregnancy calender to figure when you female is due. Now you need to wait until about 3 weeks before she is due and you should see some signs of pregnancy. Certainly, by 2 weeks you should know for sure. Other than a trip to the vet, I know of no other way of telling.

I hope you bred your female more than just one day. I have my females covered every other day as long as they will accept a male. I always get big litters that way. Just breeding once is a crapshoot. You may have not picked the right day. So, I often have a window of days instead of the 63 days one time mating would have.

Hi RedTick,

Thanks for the advice. My bitch was bred by surgical insemination with frozen semen. I used one of the top repro vets in country. LONG STORY. It isn't always easy to get to the dog you want to use and sometimes it calls for extreme measures! I will post my story if she actually concieved. I am told we have about an 80% chance.....many of the show breeders use this method with success. Please pray for your token show beagler here, okay guys? :???:

She has an ultrasound scheduled for Monday so I am rather obsessed with the whole thing right now.

Most of mine have puppies in 60- 62 days. I know most charts show 63 , but mine never do. Maybe once in a while, but never 64 days.

Mike,

That's probably because some people count from the date of breeding instead of the date of ovulation...which you can only predict with progesterone testing ;)

I took a reproduction seminar that said to count the day of ovulation as day one...typically that is 2-4 days before fertilization as the eggs have to mature. With frozen semen there is only a 12-24 (if your lucky) window to work with. You HAVE to inseminate the day the eggs are mature but not gone by. Not too early and not too late. Very tricky....and it must be surgical, or transcervical, as the thawed spermies don't have the time or extra energy to swim far. You want to put them right there with the ready and waiting eggs. Cool stuff but expensive. Will be eating lots of mac & cheese for a while ;)
