What a great way to diet on Easter! Smoke Eater, while you are eating Easter Dinner, just think of Joe Joe's wound.

I have just a thought on the asprin I don't believe you should use it with cuts because it thins the blood it's the worst thing for people when cut cause the bleeding won't stop. It's good for a sore mucles and arthritus though. Nice stichin' GOES.

Hi Goes,

One of my ponies had a cut to the bone on her leg last fall. There was about a quarter size chunk of the bone showing on a little 34 inch pony. The wound itself was about 6-8 inches wide. The vet gave me a gel that worked great. It is Veterinus Derma Gel. It keeps the wound moist but protects it from contaminants. You don't have to wrap it and it is okay if animals lick it. When you wash the wound off, only use the hose or saline solution. There is only a little scar there now about the size of my little finger (tip to the first joing). It's not too expensive either. You can get it at http://www.derma-gel.com. I even used it on a paper cut that I got on my finger and it does kill the pain and works great! Might be worth a try.

Goes,
Hi again. Sorry I've arrive to the party late but I have a solution for you guys, but don't start laughing until you read the whole thing. Super Glue! Yes, Super Glue, the stuff you buy in the Hobby store, and hardware store. The stuff that glues your fingers together instantly. Yep, that's right. Ever think why does it work so fast on fingers, well it was invented as a stichless adhesive for open heart surgury. That's right! I use to race models airplanes and would slice my fingers on the prop. Wipe my fingers on my shirt and a couple of drops of Super Glue and I was good as new. Now for the doubters out there, the pharmacy sells something called Dermabond (Derma meaning skin) that is a new improved version of Super Glue. Dermabond is used in most emergency rooms around the country. So, Carry Durmabond in you first aid kit, I do. Now you can laugh!

Hey Bob, Vicki's right, I did use super glue  In my emergency vet book it even says to use super glue. SmokeEater had his dog Toby get cut the same way a couple of months back, it wasn't as long but serious none the less and he used super glue on that along with a dressing and Toby healed up nicely.

Joe Joes stitches are just about ready to come out. The entire cut has either scabed up or the scabs have actually fallen off. The only real scabbed area left is under the neck area where the picture show that piece of skin hanging but it has scabbed nonetheless. I couldn't be happier with how this has worked out.

BARB WIRE.....UPDATED WITH NEW PICTURES

Well other than the lumped piece of skin from sewing, I'd say he healed rather nicely. The lumped skin is where the original impact was, there were 3 pieces of skin ripped away and this was the best I could do to put them back together.

If you compare the first picture on page 1 then this one, HUGE difference.

Take care

Goes (should I say Dr. Goes  )

Well Dr. Goes. I'd say you did a mighty fine job. I don't think I'll refer any plastic surgery prospects your way though. Please forgive me. LOL!!!!!

It is looking great!

Vickie

PS I'll have to send you some pictures of the pups. They are little terrors out in the barn now!
