Giving up too early???????
I have a 5 month old female, she came from Frostline breeding. She seems to have a great nose, goes into the brush and adequate desire. However, she is extremely shy and timid. I also have a male, same age, different breeding. He is very aggressive. I used to let the pups out together sometimes, and they play and stuff, he was a little dominant. Lately, I let them out totally seperate, and she's still real shy. For example, tonight I had her out in the yard, and she got stung by a bee, after this happened, she went back and sat next to her kennel. She wouldn't come when called or anything. Then after about 5 minutes and me walking up and loving her up a little, she would come to me, but not if I was down in the grass, only if I was in the driveway. She also does the submissive pee thing when she comes up to you sometimes. I'm starting to worry here, am I giving up on her a little early, or should I just let her go before I become attached? I have no desire to own a dog that won't hunt. She has an excellent personality other than this problem. I surely will appreciate any advice or help you guys can give me.
Dogs are just like people, they all mature and progress at different rates and have different personalities and emotions. Everyone likes a bold dog that starts early, but 5 months is awful young. Chances are she will come out of this in time. The peeing thing is just being submissive to you, alot of pups will do that. It may have been caused by a lack of one on one contact with people, and sometimes it is genetic, but with adequate attention and a chance to mature she should outgrow it. If she is still the same at over a year old you may want to think about moving on.

I wouldn't give up on a pup until she is ecleast a year old. I have a dog that is about a year and ahalf and won't hunt. I have been wanting to get rid of him for along time, but nobody wants him. Anyone got any idea what I can do with a dog that noone wants and I want another pup, but can't get one until I get rid of this dog. I don't really want to let him loose in the country or put him down, but any ideas? What do you guys do?
