How do I get a good puppy to train for rabbit hunting?
here's what I need to know; When buying puppies I'm told I need to find puppies with the most good dogs (champion type dogs?) in their lineage/ancestry , so how can the breeder prove this to me? Are there other things to look for (I do have some experience, have had quite a few mountain cur type squirrel dogs, trained them myself for what it's worth) when buying puppies?

j.mike,
If I were you I would go find some guy's that run beagles.
hang out with them for a while and maybe go hunting a few times with them.
untill you see the kinda rabbit dog you like.
Then if you trust that person tell him to get you a dog like that and you'll pay for it.
If your gonna buy a puppy same thing make sure you get one from someone who is trust worthy..
F.C. in front of a name means nothing to me when I'm buying a dog.
Just because it has obtained a title doesn't mean it's the kinda dog I want to rabbit hunt.
It also doesn't make it a bad dog.
It's just that a titale.
Where are you located at maybe someone here is close enough to you that you could go watch there dog's run...
