Indoor beagles or outside beagles
Ok guys, here is one for you.I am debating on keeping my new 8 month old beagle in the house with me and my other two non-hunting dogs.I am really getting attached to this little guy but want to do what is best for him and me as rabbit hunters.I like the idea of building a bond with him, something,I think, would be hard for me to do if he was outside. In your opinion, would keeping him inside be harmful to his hunting abilities?or would I be helping him to be a better hunter.?Would being inside affect his nose?..I look forward to hearing from all of you..Tahnks alot...Ray

indoor beagle
congrats on the new pup.....i have outdoor and 1 indoor beagle my self...the indoor is a 9 month old pup that we have kept inside since a pup....creates a good bond and builds some trust between you both...be sure the pup knows when it is time to go to work in the field....i run mine 3 times a week and he is doing great. he runs with my other beagles also, and is holding his own....i havent noticed anything different in them..i like having my beagle in the house to brag about. he has run on sod and in 2 1/2 feet of snow....was proud of the little guy...he looked like a dolphin in the sea, jumping up and down in the snow...
good luck and keep him healthy.....and you will have a world of joy.....

Indoor Beagle
I have a 12mo. old beagle that has been in my house since a puppy. She
is a bench champion and has a first place win in UKC. I hunt her as much
as I hunt my outside dogs and see no difference.

To old to cut the mustard, you can always run beagles

The dog should be fine inside. Just run 'em as much as possible. My dogs all stay inside altho' they are crate trained. They can't be trusted alone! when at work they stay in a gang pen outside. That helps condition them for weather differences.Their coats aren't as full as a dog kept outside. they definitely listen better than average and have as much hunt as any dogs I've seen...well almost any
Look on my website and see what "house dogs" can do.I love to show them off!
